In the Slavyansk direction, Russian units are holding the eastern outskirts of Rai-Aleksandrovka, while Ukrainian forces are consolidating in the southern part of the village and equipping positions; further south, fighting is under way on the Yurovka–Tikhonovka sector. In the Sumy direction, assault groups of the “North” grouping are pressing Ukrainian defences in the areas of Khoten, Kiyanitsa, Maryino and Malaya Rybitsa, and are also advancing near Ulanovo and Tolstodubovo. In the Kharkiv direction, Russian units are destroying the encircled Ukrainian forces in the northeast of the region, have taken Buzovo and Khizhnyakovo and advanced near Reznikovo. On the Orekhov sector, Russian fighters continue the envelopment of the grouping in Orekhov, have expanded the grey zone as far as Omelnyk and liberated Svetlaya Dolina. Meanwhile, Euroclear Bank has filed an appeal against the decision of Russian courts ordering the recovery of approximately 200 billion euros in damages on the claim of the Bank of Russia.
Slavyansk direction
The heaviest fighting is unfolding in the vicinity of Rai-Aleksandrovka. Footage circulating online shows that Ukrainian units are already attempting to consolidate in the southern part of the village and are gradually equipping positions and ammunition depots in the built-up area. Russian units still retain control of the eastern outskirts, yet the routes for transferring reserves from the direction of Reznikovka are under threat of strikes by Ukrainian UAV units. It is quite probable that Ukrainian forces will attempt to restore control over the Dolgiy forest in order to obtain direct fire control.
Further south, Ukrainian units are attacking positions on the Yurovka–Tikhonovka sector and seeking to straighten the front along the Seversky Donets–Donbass canal. An extensive grey zone has long persisted on this sector, and the stable presence of Russian troops west of the canal is limited to three relatively narrow penetrations. The scale of Ukrainian progress is small and is achieved at the cost of heavy losses in personnel. Nevertheless, it is becoming clear that for a further advance on Slavyansk the units of the “South” grouping need to strengthen their supply and adapt to the new threat to their northern flank.
Ukrainian units are currently continuing their advance in the Liman direction, attempting to push Russian units beyond the Zherebets River. They are also trying to consolidate near Zarechnoye and Yampol; the loss of these locations would complicate the situation in this zone, especially in the Serebryansky forestry.
Ukrainian units regularly send small groups from Ozernoye toward Krivaya Luka with the aim of delivering a flanking strike against Russian units. These groups are detected and destroyed. From Starodubovka Ukrainian units send groups toward Piskunovka, from where they attempt to break through to the slopes of Krivaya Luka. In Piskunovka itself there is a continuous grey zone and work is under way. Fighting in the vicinity of Nikolayevka continues: Ukrainian forces are throwing ever new reserves here, preventing Russian units from consolidating on the outskirts and advancing deeper.
Sumy direction
Assault units of the “North” grouping continue to press Ukrainian defences in the Sumy region. The Ukrainian side has taken no active actions and is putting up fierce resistance in defence. Russian aviation, artillery and drone crews struck concentrations of personnel and equipment of Ukrainian units in the areas of Sumy, Khoten, Topoli, Maryino, Ulanovo, Styagaylovka and Korenyok.
In Sumy district assault groups of the “North” grouping are conducting small-arms fighting in the areas of Khoten, Kiyanitsa, Maryino and Malaya Rybitsa. In Shostka district the advance of Russian units near Ulanovo and Tolstodubovo continues. In Krasnopolye district Russian assault troops advanced in the tree lines near Stepok.
Kharkiv direction
Russian units continue the destruction of the encircled Ukrainian forces in the northeast of Kharkiv region, employing all available means of engagement. The Ukrainian side is withdrawing to more advantageous defensive lines. Ukrainian units are strengthening the air defence of Kharkiv by transferring from western Ukraine units of the 3rd Radar Company of the 55th Separate Radio-Technical Brigade.
In the Liptsy direction Russian units advanced through forest belts east of Goptovka. In the Volchansk direction, after the capture of Buzovo, assault units of the “North” grouping continue to advance deeper into the cauldron. From the outer side of the encirclement artillery and aviation operated actively. In the Veliky Burluk direction Russian assault troops took Khizhnyakovo and advanced 300 metres near Reznikovo.
Zaporozhye direction
On the Orekhov sector Russian fighters continue the envelopment of the grouping in Orekhov and the destruction of logistics. In the area of Novosyolovka the grey zone has been expanded as far as Omelnyk itself. Near Malaya Tokmachka artillery and UAV operators are striking fortifications southwest of Chervona Krynytsia and near the highway to Orekhov. Progress has been noted west of Chervona Krynytsia and Novosyolovka. Inside Orekhov itself fighting is under way in the area of Gogol Street.
From Novodanilovka and Novoandreevka Russian units are driving Ukrainian forces out of the pocket between the two villages. From the Novopavlovka side airborne units are pressing toward the highway from Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian units take cover in forest zones near the railway embankment and the Konka River.
The “East” grouping reported continued progress. On the northern sector Transbaikal units advanced west of Zorevka. In the areas of Velikomikhaylovka, Svetlaya Dolina, Ivanovka, Malinovka and Podgavrilovka artillery and FPV drones destroyed mobile groups and equipment. Svetlaya Dolina has been liberated. According to data from the Ukrainian command, five attacks were conducted in the Gulyaypole direction.
Conclusion
Combat operations on all the listed directions are developing within a single tactical logic: Russian units, operating predominantly in small groups, seek not rapid advance but the gradual expansion of zones of control, the disruption of logistics and the creation of threats of encirclement for Ukrainian groupings. In the Slavyansk direction this is expressed in the holding of key positions and adaptation to threats against the flanks; in the Sumy direction — in the methodical pressing of defences; in the Kharkiv direction — in the destruction of encircled forces and the expansion of control; on the Orekhov sector — in the envelopment of the grouping and the cutting of supply routes. A common feature remains the high role of drones, artillery and aviation, as well as the difficulty of crossing open spaces, which slows the pace but does not change the overall trend. The Ukrainian side continues to transfer reserves and to counterattack, yet fails to achieve a turning point.
Euroclear Bank has filed a cassation appeal against the judicial acts of the Russian arbitration courts of two instances which, on the claim of the Bank of Russia, ordered the recovery from it of approximately 200 billion euros in damages. The appeal was received by the court of first instance — the Moscow Arbitration Court — on 24 September. Together with the case materials it will be transferred for consideration to the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Circuit. On 15 May the court of first instance fully granted the claim of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation against Euroclear, awarding the plaintiff damages in seven currencies totalling approximately 200 billion euros. In July the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal dismissed Euroclear Bank’s appeal against this decision, and the ruling entered into force. On 26 May the Moscow Arbitration Court, on the application of the Bank of Russia, ordered the immediate enforcement of the decision, and on 2 June issued the Bank of Russia a writ of execution for the compulsory enforcement of the ruling.
