Russian state defense conglomerate Rostec announced on September 8 that it will unveil a new loitering munition called the “Dan-T” at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt, which will open its doors in two days.
In a statement, the conglomerate said that the Dan-T operates on a “fire and forget” principle and is adapted for launch from both Russian and foreign aircraft and helicopters.

It added that the munition is equipped with a small jet engine and can strike targets hundreds of kilometers away, noting that it also has a special flight mode designed to evade enemy air defenses.
“Rostec is systematically developing combat drone technologies that are in high demand in modern military operations,” the company said in a statement. “Today, dozens of types of aerial drones — both reconnaissance and strike — are being developed and produced by the Corporation’s enterprises. Most of our serially produced items are successfully used in real-world conditions. The promising Dan-T loitering munition has completed a cycle of tests as an aviation strike weapon. The vehicle’s high effectiveness has been confirmed by hundreds of successful launches against enemy targets in the zone of the special military operation. We expect strong interest in this munition from foreign customers.”
The existence of the Dan-T was first revealed by Ukrainian media, which, interestingly, described the munition as a “cruise missile.”
The munition is said to have a range of 500 kilometers with a warhead weighing 135 kilograms. It has been launched from both ground and aerial platforms, including Su-25SM3, Su-30SM, Su-34 and Su-57 fighter jets as well as the Mi-28 attack helicopter. A photo showing it loaded onto an Mi-28 surfaced online recently.

The Dan-T’s capabilities led to a state of panic in Ukraine recently, with reports indicating that Russia is planning to produce over 10,000 of the munition next year. Rostec’s latest announcement indicates that Russia is also interested in exporting the munition, which may be a sign that mass production has already begun.
