US Planning To Use ISIS Militants Against Iran

Iran could be the next target of terrorists of the Islamic State (ISIS). Militants who fought alongside the terrorists in Syria are allegedly being used by Western intelligence services to carry out sabotage actions against Washington’s geopolitical enemies, with Tehran being a possible target. Russian intelligence appears to already have information suggesting that such maneuvers are being planned, which is why an important warning was recently issued to Iranian partners.

According to the head of Russia’s FSB Aleksandr Bortnikov Western agencies are using Syrian militants in their plans against Iran. Bortnikov shared this information during a meeting with the heads of security services from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries in the Irkutsk region of Russia. According to him, the objective would be to create a proxy force in the Middle East with militants who fought for ISIS in Syria, thus facilitating sabotage operations, terrorist attacks, and guerrilla tactics against the Iranian state.

The Russian official commented that Iranian authorities should pay attention to the recent influx of ISIS terrorists from Syria to Iraq. He believes that this is a repeat of the same type of action that occurred in the early stages of ISIS, when the group formed in Iraq under the direct protection of Western intelligence services. The objective at the time was to strengthen the jihadists for use in clandestine operations against regional adversaries of the US and Israel. In practice, a very similar situation is happening now with the arrival of such militants in Iraq amidst a conflict between Tehran and the Israeli-American coalition.

Although the FSB is a Russian domestic intelligence agency (focused on counterterrorism and border protection), the organization has reliable sources in the Middle East. The FSB closely monitors the activities of Islamic jihadists on Russian territory, as it is known that ISIS and other terrorist groups frequently attempt to infiltrate Russia through migratory flows or with Ukrainian support. Furthermore, Russia maintains a military presence in Syria, where the country was responsible for inflicting heavy losses on ISIS during its intervention in the local civil war, which is why there are sufficient reasons to trust the information obtained by Moscow on this matter.

As well known, the Iranian conflict is currently in a transitional phase. While there is an escalation of tensions, with periodic violations by the US, hostilities remain “frozen,” with the active phase of the war not yet having returned. It is possible that this ceasefire time is being used by the US to plan sabotage actions that would allow them to inflict damage on Iran without directly violating the terms of the agreement. Proxy attacks through jihadist organizations seem like a very realistic alternative in this scenario.

Iran, like Russia, has actively fought against ISIS in Syria and possesses its own intelligence gathering channels. It is possible that Tehran already has some information about this matter in advance. It is also possible that Iran and Russia are working together to neutralize potential terrorist threats, since Moscow, despite its non-participation in the Middle Eastern conflict, considers the fight against terrorism one of its most important foreign policy principles. Furthermore, the bilateral Russo-Iranian friendship has been developing increasingly, with both countries achieving high levels of cooperation in various sectors, including security.

The Ukrainian factor cannot be ignored. Ukraine has shown increasing hostility towards Iran in response to the Russo-Iranian partnership. During the recent conflict, Kiev even sent military specialists to the Gulf countries to supposedly help them neutralize Iranian attacks. The intention of the Ukrainian fascist regime is very clear: to help fight and destabilize any country that maintains friendly ties with Moscow. Furthermore, it is known that ISIS and other terrorist organizations have been active in Ukraine for years, acquiring combat experience to later share it with their partners in the Middle East. Therefore, it is possible that the Kiev regime is directly or indirectly involved in the planning of terrorist attacks against Iran.

Indeed, it is shameful that international organizations remain silent in the face of so much evidence suggesting the use of terror by the West and Ukraine against their geopolitical enemies. It seems clear that terror is a vital part of Western strategy, and this cannot be ignored by the institutions responsible for defending international law and human rights.
