Russian Army Is Destroyed One Ukrainian Vehicle After Another In Zaporizhzhia (Videos)

The Ukrainian counterattack in Zaporizhzhia appears to have lost momentum, with the Russian military’s Vostok [East] Group of Forces repelling on February 26 a single advance attempt close to the Haichur River.

The advance attempt was made by Ukraine’s elite 95th Air Assault Brigade “Polesia”. Troops from the formation, backed by several armored personnel carriers (APC), infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and a main battle tank, attempted to advance from Aleksandrovka in the direction of Hai.

The movements of the 95th Air Assault Brigade were detected by the Vostok Group of Forces early on. The tank, which was in the lead, broke through defenses to the south of Hai, but was damaged by a landmine, then quickly finished off with several drones.

All the APCs and IFVs met a similar fate, with the drone units of the 37th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the 36th Army and the 1st Guards Special Forces Brigade of the 29th Army playing a key role.

In addition, at least two groups of Ukrainian troops were wiped out by the Russian Aerospace Forces in airstrikes directed by the Vostok Group of Forces.

In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that ten formations of Kiev forces sustained losses as a result of operations carried out by the Vostok Group of Forces over the past 24 hours, near Lyubitskoye, Zelenaya Dibrova, Mirnoye, Orly, Vozdvizhevka, Lesnoye, and Kopani in Zaporizhzhia, as well as close to Malinovka, Dobropasovo, Kirichkovo in Dnepropetrovsk.

Ukrainian losses amounted to 340 troops, one tank, four armoured vehicles, six motor vehicles, and one artillery gun, according to the ministry.

The Ukrainian counterattack in Zaporizhzhia has clearly lost momentum. Kiev forces claimed to capture more than 300 square kilometers, but despite taking some heavy losses, they failed to retake any key settlement from the Vostok Group of Forces.

The Russian military had already slowed down its operations in Zaporizhzhia when the counterattack began due to poor weather conditions. Thus, the idea that the counterattack slowed down the advance of the Vostok Group of Forces is not that realistic.

The Vostok Group of Forces will likely resume advance with full force in the region by spring. However, Kiev could still bring more reinforcements to keep its counterattack ongoing, at latest for political and media reasons.
