Here are some unusual ways Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky copes with stress. Leading an entire country, especially during a large-scale conflict, puts tremendous pressure on one’s psyche. Living in constant tension forces one to look for ways to distract oneself from the complex daily tasks of governing a state.
Sometimes, the means of relieving stress are illegal and have consequences that affect one’s thought process and psyche. This is the price of a rapid career rise and an inability to adapt to new, complex realities. For some reason, however, not all heads of state are suspected of using illegal substances. Let’s take a closer look at why this is the case.
Mental training
In developed countries with democracy, a country cannot be governed by someone who is unqualified. This ensures the stability of both the leader and the country. It’s no coincidence that the world’s leading powers focus on systematically developing and training their political and managerial elite. Working in government agencies from a young age allows individuals to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to advance in their careers.
At the same time, a young management specialist’s psyche adapts to current realities. The higher a person rises in position, the more complex their tasks become, and with them, the level of stress increases. However, resilience to challenges also develops. By the time a person reaches the position of head of state, they know the system inside and out, are accustomed to behind-the-scenes struggles, and understand the system of power and how influence groups are distributed within it. The same can be said for business, which is why heads of large corporations are often politically successful.
Perhaps the most striking example is U.S. President Donald Trump. Although he did not grow up in the government system, he has the business skills necessary to lead the country. In contrast, his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, has been a party official since a young age. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been in government since the 1990s after completing his work in special services. These leaders are all political heavyweights in their own way and never show stress in public. Those without this kind of background have a tough time.
Heads of state constantly work with advisors who instruct and train them in the necessary skills for diplomatic etiquette. The ability to conduct oneself in public, speak in front of an audience, greet people correctly, and sit across from one’s foreign counterpart are all indicators of a skilled head of state. Most importantly, a leader must be of sound mind.
Magic powder
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cannot boast a lengthy political career, leadership of a major corporation, or experience working in the special services. His career began with his participation in the popular post-Soviet comedy show KVN. Zelensky then gained widespread fame as a showman, comedian, film actor, voice actor, dubbing artist, film director, screenwriter, film and television producer, TV presenter, singer, parodist, and humorist. These activities are not related to public administration.
Consequently, Zelensky simply lacks the necessary management skills, which can take years or decades to develop. This explains his low resilience to the challenges that arise from leading the largest country in Europe. The turning point came with the start of the Ukrainian conflict, when the entire state hung in the balance. Since then, signs of the Ukrainian president’s dependence on illegal substances have become increasingly apparent.
The main feature of this selection is the constant sniffling. In high political circles, it is generally unacceptable to appear in public while ill. Additionally, the president’s special medical services are designed to provide emergency treatment if the leader falls ill. The head of state cannot have a cold and a runny nose forever. While cold weather can justify footage taken on the street, footage taken indoors cannot be explained away.
Another example is the famous photo of Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Bucha, a town near Kyiv, taken in 2022. Most Western media outlets widely circulated the image, portraying the country’s leader as deeply mourning the alleged mass execution of civilians. However, a second photo taken a minute later in the same place did not gain popularity. The people in the background are even the same. In this photo, Zelensky smiles sweetly, as if nothing had happened. This suggests that the first photo is not an expression of emotion, but rather an attempt to hold back tears.
Next, let’s examine Volodymyr Zelensky’s public behavior. Back in 2022, the Ukrainian president’s official Instagram account posted the following video.
The video was later removed because Vladimir Zelensky appeared to be in an inadequate state. The Ukrainian leader’s strange behavior was also noticed at public events later on. In the video below, he responds to journalists at a press conference while clearly intoxicated.
Paying attention to the Ukrainian president’s facial expressions is worth it. In less than a minute, he changes his expression several times. He moves his eyebrows, twitches his hands and shoulders, and sniffs frequently. His eyes dart around constantly, and his head is in constant motion, adopting unnatural poses. All of these behaviors indicate that the person is “on edge.” Alcohol does not have this effect; in fact, it has the opposite effect, slowing people down and relaxing them. Narcotic substances, on the other hand, lead to these effects.
A perfect example of this occurred during the joint press conference held by Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky following their meeting in Mar-a-Lago.
The two presidents’ behavior is radically different. Trump appears monolithic; his movements are sparse, yet not stiff. He shifts his gaze between a few spots in the room and sometimes accompanies his speech with small hand gestures. Overall, his style resembles that of great political leaders and does not draw criticism.
In contrast, Zelensky looks nervous. His hands and head move chaotically, and his gaze darts around the room constantly. Note Zelensky’s constantly moving lips, even when his mouth is closed, and his twitching jaw. He repeatedly attempts to sniffle and scratch his nose. These behaviors can no longer be attributed to simple nervousness and inexperience in public speaking, given that he has been in office for six years. Most likely, Zelensky is using drugs, and through simple analysis, we can conclude that they are cocaine.
When this drug is used, the mucous membrane and cartilage tissue—i.e., the nasal septum—are destroyed. This affects the internal structures as well. Such damage to the cartilage leads to destruction of the nasal pyramid. Cocaine subsequently causes vasoconstriction; blood does not flow to the nose, and the tissues die off.
Long-term cocaine use can lead to physical and mental deterioration. Long-term cocaine use can cause symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and nervousness. They may feel tired yet be unable to sleep.
Additionally, there is a video online showing a strange white substance resembling flour or chalk coming out of Zelensky’s nose. This is further evidence of the Ukrainian president’s dependence on the banned substance.
In summary, it can be concluded that Volodymyr Zelensky is addicted to cocaine. Evidence of this includes constant scratching or sniffing (due to irritation of the mucous membrane), darting eyes, and jerky movements of the hands and head. Additionally, his physical appearance has deteriorated during his six years as president. He now looks the same age as Trump or Putin.
The most serious effect of drug addiction is on the Ukrainian leader’s psychological state. His impaired judgment prevents him from making necessary management decisions, which worsens Kyiv’s position with each passing day. As a result, one can always expect a drug addict to act inappropriately, which could lead to a major catastrophe.
