The United States Air Force has deployed one of its most advanced electronic warfare aircraft, the EA-37B Compass Call, to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
According to air traffic data, the aircraft took off on January 25 from L.F. Wade International Airport in the British overseas territory of Bermuda then crossed the Atlantic Ocean before landing in Germany on the same day.
The EA-37B was developed by the U.S. L3Harris and British BAE Systems on the bases of the Gulfstream G550 business jet. Its main mission is to disrupt enemy command and control networks, significantly hindering adversary coordination. The first such aircraft entered service in 2024.
The aircraft, which can be easily recognized by the large antenna arrays conformally mounted on either side of the fuselage, is especially equipped to conduct jamming of radars, navigation systems and communications.

The deployment of an EA-37B to Germany comes amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran. Ramstein Air Base, the U.S. Air Force hub in Europe, is a critical logistical and command node for operations extending into the Middle East.
Over the years, Ramstein has frequently acted as a staging and coordination point for assets later employed in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility.
U.S. President Donald Trump Trump earlier this month threatened military action if Iran killed protesters or carried out mass executions of prisoners, but he recently backed down, claiming the Islamic Republic halted the hangings of 800 detainees. Still, he ordered the deployment of additional U.S. military assets into the Middle East.
The EA-37B could end up getting deployed to the Middle East, close to Iran. It will likely take no more than a day to arrive there and begin operations.
Other assets have already made their way to the region. CENTCOM on January 26 confirmed the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and accompanying warships.
The U.S. is clearly preparing to attack Iran. However, it is unlikely that the attack will take place any time soon. The military buildup in the Middle East could take weeks, or even a few months to complete. While the assets currently available in the region are sufficient for a one-off attack, the Islamic Republic has already vowed to hit back hard, thus the U.S. is preparing for a full-on war.
