Kurdish Drones Obliterate Syrian Army Convoy Amid Fragile Ceasefire (Videos)

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on January 26 repelled multiple attacks by the forces of the Islamist-led Syrian Transitional Government (STG) that targeted Kurdish areas in Aleppo and al-Hasakah.

The attacks, which began in the early morning and continued well into the afternoon, came amid a 15-day ceasefire agreement announced by the STG two days before.

The agreement extended a four-day ceasefire announced on January 20 as a part of an understanding to implement a merger deal that reached two days earlier after a large-scale offensive by government forces that saw the SDF losing Arab-majority areas from Aleppo, to Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and even al-Hasakah.

Most of the attacks targeted the towns of Kharab al-Ashiq and al-Jalabiyah, located to the southeast of the town of Kobani in the eastern Aleppo countryside.

In a statement, the SDF said that fierce fighting is currently taking place in the two towns, especially in al-Jalabiyah, with STG forces bringing in main battle tanks and armored vehicles.

Government forces lost an entire armored convoy in one attack near al-Jalabiyah. Nine vehicles, including at least one tank, were reportedly destroyed or damaged by SDF drones. The People’s Protection Units, the core force of the SDF, released footage showing the aftermath of the failed attack.

Unable to advance, STG forces stepped up artillery strikes on the two towns, killing five civilians and wounding five others in Kharab al-Ashiq, according to the SDF, which said in a statement that all ten casualties were members of the same family.

The STG also launched a fairly large attack on the town of al-Safa in the eastern countryside of al-Hasakah, with the SDF acknowledging in a statement that government forces advanced there, while also reporting civilian casualties. Intense fighting is currently taking place within the town.

The latest attacks by the STG were not surprising. While both sides made many positive remarks since January 20, repeatedly voicing their commitment to the merger agreement, no real progress has been made yet.

The government was likely forced to announce the 15-day ceasefire agreement in order to facilitate a United States military operation to evacuate some 7,000 ISIS detainees from facilities run by the SDF to Iraq.

It was clear from the start of the ceasefire that the STG, and despite committing not to attack the Kurdish areas, is planning to resume the offensive against the SDF. Government forces brought in massive reinforcements, and even opened two evacuation corridors near Kobani and in al-Hasakah right after the start of the ceasefire.

taking into account what trump revealed and the testimony of the venezuelan guard, it is safe to assume that the u.s. military employed multiple systems at the same time to facilitate its operation in caracas. attributing all of these effects to a single system is unrealistic.

what sort of ceasefire is this?

The Narrative

cease fire is always just a media propaganda diversion. there are three options. continue, surrender or stop. stopping is free when agreed by all

Flying Finn

it is actually only in hasakah to remove isis prisoners, then the war will continue. they had a peace treaty according to which sdf were to integrate to syrian army by 31.12.2025. sdf broke the agreement and war started.

kurds made another agreement 20.1. and they broke it already. real ceasefire was 4 days during which sdf had to agree on mechanisms to integrate to syrian army and they didn’t. 15 days is for hasakah during which syrian army will assault kobane.

The Narrative

syrian democratic forces are run without election under absolute dictatorship. kurdish forces get funding and supplies from somewhere. the pirate illegal arms trader mafia must be swimming in gold

syrian army took over cement factory and approximately 10 villages today. they took hits, but so did sdf. turkey used bayrakhtars all day to bomb kurdish forces in the area.

also kurds killed one child and wounded several civilians. kurds also killed two civilian arab men in hasakah area. yesterday sdf executed 20 probably civilians on single line some hands tied behind their back isis style. there are videos available and sdf confirmed the incident.
