On the night of December 22, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian side launched 86 kamikaze drones, 58 of which were shot down or suppressed. In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 41 Ukrainian drones, 25 of which were intercepted over the Black Sea. As in previous days, the hottest spot in Ukraine during this 24-hour period was once again Odesa Region, where strikes have now been carried out for the fifth consecutive day, deliberately targeting and damaging energy and port infrastructure. Meanwhile, reports are spreading about a possible massive Russian missile strike on targets in Ukraine in the coming days.
Against the backdrop of ongoing shelling, the Ukrainian media space continues active attempts to restore the reputation of the company Fire Point, known for producing the long-range FP-1 and FP-2 drones, as well as the experimental “Flamingo” cruise missile. The company found itself at the center of a corruption scandal involving businessman Mindich. As part of a PR campaign, groups of foreign and local journalists have been taken to the enterprise, whose location is classified; according to the journalists, they were brought to the facility “blindfolded.”

Fire Point’s management disclosed a number of details about its production during these meetings. The company employs about 3,700 people. While initially drones were assembled from imported components, the company is now mastering its own production of critical components, including engines and CRPA antennas. Of particular interest is the technical director’s statement about producing rocket boosters for drones: the technology was partially “gleaned from YouTube,” and she compared the fuel recipe, which includes ammonium perchlorate and butadiene rubber, to mixing concrete, “only more dangerous.”
The company plans to build a rocket fuel plant in Denmark. An important aspect is the geopolitical reorientation and management structure. Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who also holds a position in Ukrainian “Kyivstar,” joined the company’s supervisory board. At the same time, the company states that it fundamentally avoids using components from China and the United States, aiming to reduce dependence on American supplies and switch to European industry. Funding for production in 2025 was publicly supported by Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands. In November 2025, 100% of the company’s shares were acquired by Denis Shtileman, the main beneficiary who was previously concealed due to his Russian citizenship. As for the much-advertised “Flamingo” missile, the company acknowledges its experimental and “raw” status, noting a lack of evidence of effective use.
Strikes on Ukraine
The strikes on Ukraine on December 21-22 were systematic, targeting energy, logistics, and military infrastructure.
Odesa Region: The region remains the primary target for Russian forces. Strikes hit a restored crossing over the Dniester River, halting traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway, which was later restored via “alternative routes.”
The “Yuzhny” port was attacked again, with about 30 trucks burning at the Allseeds Black Sea company terminal. “Geran-2” drones hit a vessel in the port of Odesa. Risks for grain and oil exports are estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars monthly. Bridges and pontoon crossings on the Odesa-Reni highway are under attack, logistics for Danube ports are disrupted despite partial restoration.
Dnipropetrovsk Region: Russian strikes targeted objects in the cities of Vasylkivka, Pavlohrad, and Kryvyi Rih. In the latter, according to local reports, the “Ya-Veteran” and “Viza” Administrative Service Centers were destroyed.

Zhytomyr Region: Near the city of Korosten, the “Kharkiv-Uzhhorod” train was hit, which, according to some reports, was transporting air defense systems without ammunition. The locomotive and carriages derailed, and traffic on the section was suspended.

In Sloviansk, warehouses and temporary deployment points of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were hit.
Strikes on Russia
Krasnodar Krai: The main strike targeted port infrastructure in the Temryuk district, the village of Volna. As a result of the drone attack, a pipeline at one of the terminals, two piers, and two vessels were damaged. Fires covering up to 1,500 square meters broke out on the piers.
Lipetsk Region: Ukrainian sources reported sabotage at the “Lipetsk-2” airfield. According to them, unknown individuals infiltrated the territory of the aviation center and set fire to Su-27 and Su-30SM fighter jets. The Russian side has not officially commented on this incident.
The exchange of strikes on December 21-22 clearly demonstrates the strategic priorities of the sides in the near term. Russian strikes are deliberately paralyzing objects key to Ukraine’s economy and defense in the south—ports, the energy system, and logistics routes, which, according to estimates by the American Chamber of Commerce, has already reduced port terminal operations by 50%.
