On November 27, the Russian military cleared new parts of Myrnograd, also known as Dimitrov, all while expanding its operations around the key city of Pokrovsk nearby in Donetsk.
The Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces advanced in the northern and eastern parts of Myrnograd, with preliminary reports indicating that the districts of Vostochny and Molodezhny have been completely secured.
In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported gains in Vostochny, as well as in the district of Zapadny and the southern part of the large settlement. It said that more than 117 buildings were cleared by the 51st Army over the past 24 hours.
The ministry also announced more advances in Pokrovsk, where it said that the 2nd Army advanced northwards in the districts of Tsentralny and Dinas.
Other sources reported a significant push by the Tsentr Group of Forces to the northwest of Pokrovsk, and even said that Russian troops stormed Grishino and established a presence in the southern part of the settlement, which Kiev forces have been using as a staging ground to launch counterattacks nearby.
Russian troops have been also working to expand control to the north of Pokrovsk, up to Rodynske, tightening the siege on Myrnograd.
Detailing Ukraine’s recent losses in Pokrovsk and nearby areas, the Russian MoD said that “275 servicemen, a tank, four armoured fighting vehicles, and a pickup truck have been neutralized.”
At least 30 of the troops, and two of the armored vehicles, an American-made M113 and a Swedish-made Viking, were lost by Ukraine’s 425th Assault Regiment and 95th Air Assault Brigade, which launched eight failed counterattacks near Grishino over the past day.
It is unknown how many Ukrainian troops are currently besieged inside Myrnograd, but the number could be in the thousands.
Kiev is yet to admit defeat, or even acknowledge its losses in Pokrovsk and nearby areas. Instead, it continued to issue unrealistic statements. For example, oNovember 27, the Ukrainian military said in a statement it had thwarted 57 Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk directions in the past day and was destroying Russian units inside the city.
The battle in Pokrovsk is almost over, and the main work is now focused on clearing Myrnograd. The entire area will likely be captured by the Russian military by the end of the year. Kiev, which wasted an unimaginable amount of resources attempting to hold onto the city, will likely face multiple collapses after this defeat.
