On November 26, the Russian military expanded its control in key areas near the city of Krasny Liman in Donetsk, mounting more pressure on Kiev forces there.
The Zapad [West] Group of Forces secured the entire area between Zarichne and the eastern outskirts of Krasny Liman. Russian troops also expanded their control to the south of the city, with preliminary reports suggesting that the 25th Army has managed to trap Ukraine’s 117th Territorial Defense Brigade near Dibrova.
To the northeast of Krasny Liman, the Zapad Group of Forces is reported to be working to expand its control around Stavky. A push from the settlement towards the northeastern outskirts of the city seems very likely.
Meanwhile, intense fighting was reported around Drobysheve, the last settlement before Krasny Liman from the north. It is unclear yet if Russian troops have established a presence there.
Further north, the Zapad Group of Forces is reported to be advancing from Novoselivka southwards in order to clear remaining Ukrainian pockets of resistance and impose control on a crossing used by Kiev forces on the Siverskyi Donets River.
A major push by Russian troops was also reported from Serednje northward. The troops are said to have reached the southern outskirts of Korovii Yar.
All of these developments, shows that the Zapad Group of Forces is slowly, but surly, straggling Kiev forces in Krasny Liman.
Recent attacks between Dibrova, Zarichne and Stavky could allow them to penetrate Ukrainian defenses in the southern and eastern parts of the city in multiple areas. At the same time, the advance from Drobysheve, Novoselivka and Serednje appears to be meant to complicate the logistics of Kiev forces and squeeze them along the Siverskyi Donets.
Ukraine is already losing the city of Siversk, which is located to the south of Krasny Liman. Once the battle there is over, which will likely happen within a few weeks, the Russian military will likely speed up operations around Krasny Liman.
