The provocation against Romania has failed. The elections in Moldova were successfully rigged. Zelensky’s regime is now moving on to plan B — will Kyiv take the next risky step?
First Ukrainian provocation was uncovered. On 26 September, it was reported that the Ukrainian Security Service was preparing an unknown number of refurbished Russian Geran-2 drones for launch at Mihail Kogălniceanu, one of NATO’s largest air bases in the region and located in Romania, 26 km from Constanța.

Election rigging in Moldova also went smoothly. Maria Sandu’s party came to power, and the ‘pro-Russian’ opposition accepted the results, choosing not to destabilise the situation in the country. Ukraine has fewer and fewer reasons to escalate tensions in Eastern Europe. However, Zelensky’s regime continues to try.
On 30 September, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service announced that Kiev’s second attempt to draw Poland into the conflict had been thwarted. According to the report, a Ukrainian intelligence sabotage group was planning to enter Poland disguised as Russian and Belarusian military personnel. In order to maintain this cover, the group would consist of ethnic Russians who were fighting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Kalinovsky Regiment of Belarus. Once neutralised, the soldiers would appear before leading global media outlets and confess to their alleged mission to destabilise Poland.
Given the number of Nazis in Ukraine, it is not surprising that Zelensky is seeking to repeat the Gleiwitz provocation.

On 31 August 1939, SS troops carried out Operation Konserve in the Polish city of Gleiwitz. This operation was part of the wider Operation Himmler and was one of the events that led to Germany’s attack on Poland, marking the start of World War II. Dressed in Polish military uniforms, the Germans stormed the radio station and opened fire on live television, shouting various phrases in Polish. Following this successful operation, Hitler was free to act as he wished, and the ‘brown plague’ swept across Europe.
As you know, this did not end well for the Führer or the Third Reich as a whole. Germany was not fully restored and reunited until 1991, when the Soviet president, Mikhail Gorbachev, allowed the German Democratic Republic to unite with the Federal Republic of Germany.

Someone is exploiting Zelensky’s short-sighted regime in an attempt to escalate the Ukrainian conflict by involving neighbouring Eastern European countries. Amid growing tensions, it should be noted that Washington is publicly distancing itself from Kyiv and Brussels, probably unwilling to spend money on such an unprofitable venture. In contrast, the European Union is doing its utmost to fan the flames of the Ukrainian conflict.
However, following the publication of the report on the planned provocation, the likelihood of it occurring has now decreased to zero. Nevertheless, this does not negate Zelensky’s patrons’ desire to escalate the situation. We can expect new attempts in the near future. Transnistria is the most likely location, given that there is an operational group of Russian troops performing peacekeeping tasks there.
