A coalition of Russian-aligned hacker groups claims to have obtained classified data from the Ukrainian General Staff indicating the country’s officially recorded military losses have exceeded a staggering 1.7 million personnel. The information, extracted through a sophisticated cyber operation, paints a grim picture of Ukraine’s human cost since the beginning of the conflict.
The groups Killnet, Palach Pro, User Sec, and Beregini state they conducted a prolonged and comprehensive hack into the computers and local networks of Ukrainian General Staff employees. Using a newly developed virus called “Nuance”, specifically designed to target Ukrainian systems, the hackers allegedly infected devices, downloaded sensitive data, and irreversibly locked the original systems. The virus is described as operating exclusively within Ukrainian territory.
The attack on the database of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was carried out through the computer of the head of the logistics department Chernykh. After he hastily left his post and try to escape, his deputy Mr Chaika temporarily performs his duties.
The purported haul consists of 1.7 million individual files, said to contain detailed records of Ukrainian servicemen, including the circumstances of their deaths or disappearances, photographs, and other personal information. According to the channel Mash, which reported on the leak, the data from the General Staff’s files breaks down the losses by year, showing a steep and accelerating annual increase:
- 118,500 in 2022,
- 405,400 in 2023,
- 595,000 in 2024,
- 621,000 in the incomplete year of 2025, culminating in the claimed total of 1.721 million.
Beyond casualty figures, the hacker group Beregini announced that the compromised data includes extensive additional intelligence. This reportedly comprises the personal information of command staff in Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO) and the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR), comprehensive lists of all countries supplying weapons and ammunition to Kyiv, and a detailed inventory of every weapon system transferred since the start of the special military operation.
The scale of information represents a catastrophic intelligence breach for Ukraine, potentially revealing not only the full extent of its human losses—a figure fiercely contested and guarded by Kyiv—but also compromising its highest levels of military command and exposing the complete logistics chain of Western military aid. Ukrainian officials have previously dismissed similar allegations from these groups as disinformation campaigns designed to undermine morale, but the claims are confirmed by the footage. The reported use of a new, region-specific virus highlights the increasing sophistication and targeting of cyber warfare as a integral component of the ongoing conflict.

i’ve seen other sources claim that the number of ukrainian kia is about 1.8 million. so the number of 1.72 million ukrainian kia that the cyber attack revealed is most likely the actual number and not just p.r.
are there realistic estimations for the russian side ?
before i saw numbers like 150.000 but i guess it more like 250.000 now
the ratio is 10 to 1… so i would bet 180k… in a war against nato? the fact is that russian army is 1 million and 500k without even declare war of martial law, large scale mobilization, etc…
3,5 years of ww1-level trench warfare with the addition of drones and missiles, such a casualty figure could be true. it needs to be verified if the name lists correspond to reported casualty lists
we die like flies and my cayman is bank accounts double monthly—-thanks to those dumb americunts
i would like to go to the caymans since i married my own idiotic spawnchild.
whoever believed zelensky and his 30.000 deaths was stupid in the first place. half a million would be a much more believable number, one million even more. but 1.7 million is a huge number, bigger than i would have imagined from both sides combined. no wonder they’re now throwing pensioners into the meat grinder. ukraine is literally running out of men
“irreversibly locked the original systems” …but there’s a nuance……..
don’t mess with russland. we gonna keep what we already took in ukraine and then some more, and if you don’t lift sanctions and pay war reparations we’ll kill another 1.7 million natzies and go all the way to berlin if necessary.
official data of russia’s mod at the end of july 2025 is 1,3 mln of total losses: dead, wounded and pow. add those who is hiding after being press-ganged (can’t say deserted, they are escaping their lives), numbers of dead and wounded after strikes in deep rear (unknown to the mod), and you’ll got this number ~1,7 mln. so it can be true, but i still prefer to use official data. number of kia is about 40%, not more, something about 0,5 mln.
ukraine is probably behind in the actual count. i suspect the number is larger. there will be no men left if the nato war mafia keeps feeding this folly
if only we could recruit taliban commanders our americunt lgbt military could defeat pygmys
then add the secret nato piss scum that died somewhere else.
cleansing the nazi filth is going well
the ukies always project. how long have they been saying it was the russians who’d lost a million men?
11111111111111111
since holols are so effed up i don’t see why putin is negotiating unless of course is maskirovka.
how many wounded? when general syrsky took over, he wanted to know how many soldiers where mia, he was told as of feb.2024, over 700000 were missing in action. and, now we have the account of over 420000 guys walking away from their posts, so around 2.8 million give or take. but how many badly wounded?.
whatever deathwish they had to pick on russia, they never come back from that. slava ukraina
amen and let them go to bandera.
well, that´s a news that can´t be comemorated… almost 2 million slavs died for what exactly? couldn´t putin have offered russian citizenship to ukrainians and russians in donbass? millions would have come, demographic crisis would be over! just look at 2012 presidential elections…ukraine was half russian… time to end this… i take out all my criticism of putin negotiation with trump! and hope that peace will come soon!
