The Russian Navy, with support from the Rubikon advanced unmanned technology center, foiled over the night of August 19 and 20 an attempt by Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage to land on the shores of the Crimean Peninsula.

In a post on Telegram, Rubikon said that the group sailed towards Crimea on high-speed boats, but were quickly detected by a Z-20 reconnaissance drone. Soon after, one of the boats was targeted with a Lancet loitering munition from a distance of 72 kilometers.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also announced in its daily briefing that two “small-size high-speed surface vehicles” were destroyed in the northwestern part of the Black Sea by the Black Sea Fleet.

The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of the Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two models of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighing three kilograms. An upgraded version of the Izdeliye-51 was likely used to hit the Ukrainian saboteurs boat.

The Lancet flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead.

The Z-20 is also produced by ZALA. The drone has an operation range of over 100 kilometers and can stay in the air for over seven hours. It is also equipped with an artificial intelligence-capable electro-optical system.

It’s worth noting that just a day earlier an entire Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group trained by specialists from the United Kingdom and other NATO states was neutralized by the Russian military while attempting to cross into the Bryansk region in Russia.

The group that attempted to land on Crimea was likely also trained by the UK, which has been playing a key role in planning such operations for Kiev forces.

Fake

well from the results of the video i would say that whatever you paid as a taxpayer to train those guys was too much. its hilarious that the best the sas can do is put some guys in a speed boat. they could have at least sent those guys back in time to 1943 first when those tactics still worked.

Patrick

that’s western democracy for you.
