The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have released more videos from the ongoing attack on Iran, showing the destruction of multiple missile and drone systems.
The attack, codenamed “Operation Rising Lion,” began in the early hours of June 13. The IDF said that the main goal of the attack is to cripple Iran’s nuclear program, but the targets hit included missile and air defense sites, in addition to several air bases.
One of the videos released by the IDF recently shows four strikes, allegedly carried out by F-35 fighter jet of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), targeting two ballistic missile launchers, one of which concealed in what appears to be a shipping container, and two launchers for Shahed-type suicide drones.
Another video shows strikes on seven additional ballistic missile launchers. The IAF didn’t specify which type of warplanes carried out the strikes.
One more video shows two more IAF strikes that targeted yet another ballistic missile and a Tor-M1E short-range air defense system, whcih was not apparently active. The strikes were apparently carried out using Delilah stand-off cruise missiles.
Some of the launchers destroyed in the strikes were capable of launching medium-range ballistic missiles, like the Qadr-H or Qiam, while the rest were mainly used to launch Fateh-type short-range ballistic missiles. Not all launchers were armed when they were targeted.
Israel’s opening strikes, which were carried out by the IAF and sleeper cells of the Mossad spy agency, dealt a blow to air defenses in western and central Iran. Nevertheless, the same can’t be said about the Islamic Republic missile and drone arsenal.
According to the IDF itself, Iran has launched over 200 ballistic missile and 100 suicide drones since the start of the confrontation. Overnight missile strikes killed three people and left some 70 others wounded. Nearly all of the drones were apparently intercepted, however.
