The Unknown War is an American 20-part series that documents the World War II conflict between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
Today, SouthFront shares the 19th part of the series titled “The Last Battle of the Unknown War”. World War II ended in Europe in May 1945, but the war kept going on in the Far East.
In February of the year, at the Yalta Confederation, the members of the Big Three signed a secret agreement under which the Soviet Union committed to enter the war with Japan two to three months after the end of hostilities in Europe.
The Soviets kept their word. On August 8, Moscow declared war on Japan. In a rapid, large-scale offensive, the Red Army liberated the Kurils and South Sakhalin, which were taken away by the Japanese after the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Soviet troops also helped liberate Northeast China and Korea from Japanese colonial enslavement.
After suffering its worst defeat during the war, Japan officially capitulated. That was the last battle of WW II.

this american documentary on the chinese and russian war with japan is so redacted that its obvious it plays down russia,s role in the far east. russia helped china greatly with planes and military equipment and also russian military.
16 million chinese civilians were killed and 4 million military .i have an original soviet union late 40,s russian trials book of those taking part in japanese atrocities including in great detail experiments on chinese and russian prisoners as well as on the chinese population .its so evil i couldn’t possibly post it.

the us did much to gain victory in the pacific . it is the last real war the us can claim it won . but it had help from china . who paid also . japan has invaded china many , many times .
why do you say that northeast china and korea were “liberated” from the japanese? all that happened is that one enslavement was replaced by another. communism did not bring freedom to the people there.
china and korea both regained their sovereignty and freedom after a century of alien imperialist slavery and exploitation.
russia took back south sakhalin, seized by japan in 1905.
the kurils were japanese beforehand and offered by the americans if russia joined their war against japan.
