Mahdi Al Mashat, chairman of the Supreme Political Council of the Houthis (Ansar Allah), vowed late on March 25 that the group will continue to launch attacks in support of the Gaza Strip despite the ongoing attack on Yemen by the United States.
In a televised address marking “National Resilience Day” commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Saudi-led coalition’s initial strikes on Yemen, the senior Houthi official addressed U.S. President Donald Trump, asserting that “the entirety of your presidential term would be insufficient to dissuade us.”
“Your decision to attack our country will not succeed in halting our operations supporting Gaza,” he added.
Al-Mashat criticized U.S. foreign policy, describing the attack against Yemen as “reckless” and lacking legitimacy. He also called on the international community to adopt a unified stance against what he termed “American aggression” and “Zionist crimes.”
The Houthi official went on emphasize the group’s readiness to respond to potential attacks, saying they have multiple options to protect their territorial integrity.
Overnight, at least 17 U.S. strikes targeted Yemen, hitting Houthi strongholds in the northern provinces of Saada and Amran. Al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthis, claimed the strikes caused material damage to civilian property, though specific casualty details were not provided.
Later early on March 26, the Houthis announced that they had carried out another wave of attacks against U.S. warships in the Red Sea.
“Our forces launched missile and drone attacks over the past few hours, targeting American warships in the Red Sea, including the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, from which the aggression against our country is launched,” the group’s military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a statement.
“The confrontation and engagement continued for several hours,” he added, vowing to confront the ongoing U.S. airstrikes on Houthi-held areas in northern Yemen.
The spokesman also announced in the same statement that the Houthis had launched a number of suicide drones at Israel.
“In support of the Palestinian people in Gaza, we targeted military targets in Tel Aviv, using several drones,” he said, pledging to continue targeting Israeli cities and Israel-affiliated vessels in the Red Sea until “the war on Gaza stops.”
Hebrew media didn’t report any blasts or interceptions near Tel Aviv or in any other part of Israel. There was also no comment from the military.
The U.S. military resumed strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen on March 15 on orders from President Donald Trump, who said that the large-scale attack was a response to the group’s renewed attacks on shipping.
U.S. strikes have so far claimed the lives of some 54 people, including commanders of the Houthis and civilians. However, the attack is yet to deter the Houthis or degrade their military capabilities.
