Israeli Defense Minister Says Troops Will Stay In Five Southern Lebanon Posts ‘Indefinitely’

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on March 14 that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would remain deployed at five strategic points in southern Lebanon “indefinitely.”

According to a statement released by Katz’s office, the minister clarified during an assessment that was held with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other top military officials said a day earlier that the military “will remain at the five points that control the buffer zone in Lebanon, indefinitely, for the sake of protecting the residents of the north, and this is without any connection to future negotiations on points of dispute on the border.”

Katz instructed the IDF to fortify its positions at the five strategic points and prepare to stay there for a long period, his office added.

The IDF was supposed to pull out all troops from southern Lebanon before February 18 as a part of the ceasefire agreement broken by the United States last November. However, Israel kept five strategic posts in the region, reportedly with permission from Washington.

The posts are located at a hill near the town of Labbouneh, across from the the Israeli border settlement of Shlomi; the Jabal Blat peak, across from the settlement of Zar’it; a hill across from the settlements of Avivim and Malkia; a hill across from the settlement of Margaliot; and a hill across from the settlement of Metula. None of these positions are populated.

The ceasefire ended more than 14 months of clashes with Hezbollah, but the IDF continues to launch strikes against the group.

Hezbollah initiated the confrontation a day after the October 7 surprise attack on Israel to back the Hamas Movement in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier this week, Israel and Lebanon held direct talks to resolve long-running issues about their shared border, and Israel returned five Lebanese prisoners it had arrested in the fighting in what was described as a gesture of good will to newly-elected Lebanese president Joseph Aoun.

While an Israeli official has said the talks also aim to reach normalization of bilateral relations, a Lebanese source quoted by the pro-Iran Al-Mayadeen channel stated that ties with Israel are not on the table.

Hezbollah was deeply weakened during the last confrontation with Israel, losing nearly all of its leadership and a large part of its military capabilities. Now, Israel is working to capitalize on this. Meanwhile, the group appears to be exercising strategic patience.

israel, if it wants, can create a state called buffer zone. israel can then abolish money and education in buffer zone.
not only that, israel can easily take over half of syria and say, “i protected the alawites and other religious minorities.” then it places those same men in hamas’s trenches, equips them with rifles, and instructs them: if they don’t kill five palestinians, they won’t get any food.

you have to understand that black slaves on the plantations in new orleans stood guard plantations and hunted down runaway black slaves with dogs and guns.

anon

it needs to create a “buffer zone” inside israel. a palestinian state for the moslems it is ethnic cleansing. on the land that was stolen from them. “protecting alawites” is just an alibi for more zio thieving. the talmudic folk have been promised 2,800 goy slaves each to cater to their every whim.

Dunk

only two words fit the bill= greater israel .

and the enslaved or killed alawite population, who considered themselves smart and liberal, tolerant people who wanted the sanctions lifted and bought their own death. well, if israel actually seizes them, they will remain alive, but their lives will be most similar to the lives of blacks on the plantations of new orleans. except instead of picking cotton they’ll have to kill other arabs… free, what will money do to animals?

these people were dead and too stupid to know they were dead as soon as they laid down their weapons. hamas hates them, but they support hamas and are therefore in a hell hole before they are dead. you have to understand that it is difficult to support jolani’s al qaeda and hamas who are kidnapping innocent people. these are both organizations to hate. i liked hezbollah because they didn’t kidnap children.

The Crunge

i wonder if hezbollah was really defeated in the battlefield or just quit or playing possum. the idf gained no ground against them, they weren’t able to move forward against hezbollah gunfire. even after they lost their leaders.
all israel could do is kill lebanese civilians. hezbollah was shooting missiles til the end.

all it takes to launch a rocket and write on a website is a boss and a secretary. believe me, it doesn’t take much, and believe me, as soon as the president of lebanon disarms them, jolani’s gangs will be after them too. but perhaps a greater israel wouldn’t be such a bad solution if it meant eliminating jolani and his gangs.

anon

why would israel eliminate jolani and his gangs? it created them in the first place.

NADA

in fact, what did shiite hezbollah have to do with interfering in the problems of sunni hamas? did he really think that hamas, funded by erdogan and the qataris, would benefit them? to solve the problems of people they would like to see dead, they drew targets on own backs.

anon

because they don’t play the dirty zio games of divide and rule. the idea that if you keep quiet shlomo will leave you in peace, is patently ludicrous.

The truth

hezbollah is still around it’s best to stay put and let the events play out in syria whatever happens in syria effects the entire region no one coming to help this time around neither iran or iraq syria is gone so will the rest of the me countries israel and the usa are imploding trying to make these prophecies come true they will come to realize that everything they achieved was lackluster and i won’t be surprised if israel and usa come to an end in trumps term.

Redguard

israel is not israel unless it’s invading other people’s lands. terrorism and theft are key part of their fake national identity. they are not a real nation, just a mafia-like organization.
