The exchange of dead soldiers’ bodies between Moscow and Kiev as a clear indication of losses from both sides. The Ukrainian commanders resort to demonstrative executions and torture of its own personnel who refuse to fight. There will be no “Marshall Plan for Ukraine”: Trump bluntly accused Zelensky of obstructing the conflict settlement.
Situation in the sky
Last night, Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 121 Ukrainian UAVs over 13 regions, including Moscow. A feature of this massive attack by Ukraine was the use of reactive drones operating at ultra-low altitudes. The most apparent targets of the strikes were the Kremniy El microelectronics plant in Bryansk, and an oil refinery in Engels, Saratov Region.
The Russian Armed Forces, in turn, launched overnight attacks on military and infrastructure targets in 8 regions of Ukraine.
Situation on the fronts
Moscow and Kiev have exchanged the corpses of their military personnel – 49 dead Russians for 757 Ukrainians. Earlier, on December 20, 2024, the bodies of 42 Russian fighters were exchanged for 508 Ukrainian ones. In the absence of official data on the death toll from both sides, these figures allow us to make an estimate of how many times more Ukrainian soldiers are killed on all fronts. This disproportion can be caused both by objective reasons for the superiority of the Russian side on the battlefield and by the fact that Ukrainian troops have often been encircled in recent months.
In the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian army has pulled new elite units to the Sudzha area, putting them into battle. Russian soldiers at different sectors of the front clashed with Ukrainian Airborne Assault Troops reserves, SOF units, and new recruits of ex-prisoners. Nevertheless, the Russian military did make significant advances in the direction of Sverdlikovo and cleared several forest belts in the vicinity of Kurilovka.

In Chasov Yar, Russian assault troops enter the western outskirts of the town from the northern side near the railroad.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian units continue active offensive operations, developing success in key sections of the front and expanding the zone of control in the direction of Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) along the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
After gains in the Kotlino area, Russian forces are rapidly advancing through the fields towards the Pavlograd-Pokrovsk highway, expanding their zone of fire control. Tactical successes of the Russians are being observed in this section, which poses a threat of seizing the Ukrainian army’s most important logistical route linking the Pokrovsk and Pavlograd groups of forces.
At the same time, Russian units are developing their offensive south of Udachnoye, continuing fighting for the railway station.
Fierce clashes continue near Zverevoye. Ukrainian units are trying to hold back the onslaught of the Russian Armed Forces.
Heavy fighting was also recorded at the Sukhoy Yar-Lysovka line. The RAF are conducting maneuvering actions, putting pressure on Ukrainian positions from several directions, which makes it difficult to hold the line.
Ukrainian troops, realizing the threat of losing operational control over the area, blew up a bridge at the junction of the T-0504 highway leading from the west from Konstantinovka towards Mirnograd and Pokrovsk. This maneuver is aimed at slowing down the offensive of the Russian army.
Nevertheless, Russian units continue their assault operations in the direction of Vodyanoy Vtoroy and Zelenoye Polye, developing their attack along critical routes and adversary communications.
The advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsk direction poses a direct threat to the Ukrainian group holding Pokrovsk. Additionally, the destruction of bridges by Ukrainian forces indicates preparation for retreat, which confirms the critical position of Ukrainian defenses in the area.
In the Kharkiv direction, after several weeks of persistent fighting and the advance of Russian troops, the corpses of Ukrainian soldiers were found chained in positions abandoned by the Ukrainian army.
Ukrainian commanders torture and kill their subordinates like maniacs
The poor people were left without food and water. One of them tried unsuccessfully to get out, but could not break the chains. The men died in terrible agony, and their bodies clearly showed signs of torture. In the Kurakhove direction, forward units of the Russian Army carried out raids in the area of the village of Andreevka (north of Constantinople).
Velyka Novosilka has been cut in two, the Ukrainian forces in the southern part of the town are completely surrounded and have not been able to retreat to the north. They are given an exit route for surrender. Units of the Russian Vostok group of forces are currently taking full control of the right-bank of the town and are developing an offensive towards the its center part. Neighborhoods of Velyka Novosilka are already being mopped up.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russians are launching drone and artillery strikes on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ supply infrastructure in Orikhiv.

On the diplomatic front, European officials are trying to get the United States to participate in sending troops to Ukraine as part of a so-called “peacekeeping” mission after the conflict is resolved. Donald Trump has already expressed his unwillingness to provide Kiev with such security guarantees. Moreover, he explicitly stated that Ukraine’s current problems are a consequence of the Kiev regime’s conscious policy.

The new US administration at the state level does not intend to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine at all, instead planning to hand it over only to the private sector.
