Fire in Zaporozhie
On the night of January 23th, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched another wave of strikes on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. In their turn, Ukrainian forces only attempted to launched several drones on Russian territory.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian federation, only four Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the Russian border Belgorod region last night. No damage was reported in Russia.
Meanwhile, the Russian military was launching dozens of UAVs on targets throughout Ukraine. According to the Air Force of Ukraine, in total 92 Russian drones targeted Ukrainian territory. 57 of them were allegedly destroyed. Russian drones were replaced in the skies over six regions of Ukraine, including Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv, as well as over the territory of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military also acknowledged that four Russian Iskander-M missiles struck targets in the city of Zaporozhie. Russian strikes in the Eastern city were confirmed by footage of a large fire in the industrial zone.
The local energy infrastructure suffered heavy damage. The target of the strikes was the local Novozaporozhskaya power substation that supplies for the need of the large industrial facilities in the city, including the Motor Sich plant. The heavy damage to the substation provoked outages in the industrial zone and logistics hubs in the region. The local authorities confirmed that the energy facility was first attacked by the drones and then it was struck by Russian missiles. As a result of the attack, several local industrial enterprises have suspended their operation.
Last night, Russian strikes were launched in several waves. Strikes were recorder in the Kyiv region, including in the capital, in the Cherkassy, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv regions.
