The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue developing their offensive in different directions in the Donbass. The southern front is not an exclusion.
On January 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the village of Vremevka located on the southwestern outskirts of the town of Velyka Novoselka. The settlement was liberated by forces of the Russian Eastern (Vostok) group of forces. Fighters from the Far East completed the mop up operation. In three days of fighting, Russian forces moped up about 600 buildings, more than 70 Ukrainian soldiers were eliminated, and up to a platoon of Ukrainian military personnel surrendered in the village. The reinforced stronghold of the 110th Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed.

Russian assault on Vremevka began a few days ago. Russian assault groups broke through Ukrainian defense and advanced along the local Partizanskaya street. The Ukrainian garrison was divided. After Russian forces took control of the bridge between Vremevka and Velyka Novoselka, Ukrainian soldiers were surrounded and there was no way away from the village left.
According to preliminary reports, immediately after their victory in Vremevka, Russian forces launched assault on Velyka Novoselka. They reportedly entered the village from the southern direction, while battles are still ongoing on its eastern outskirts.

Over the past months, the units of the Russian Vostok Group of Forces took control of all the areas lost in this Vremevka direction during the so-called offensive of the Ukrainian army in the summer of 2023. On June 10, 2024, Russian forces took control of Staromayorskoye. Urozhaynoye was liberated on July 13, Blagodatnoye on December 5, Storozhevoe on December 22. In the last three days, Russian fighters took back control of Neskuchnoe and Vremevka.
The Russian army does not stop offensive operations and is set to develop its further advance. The main Ukrainian stronghold of Velyka Novoselka is already in tactical encirclement. Russian control of Vremevka secured Russian control of the large road west of the town. The Ukrainian garrison has only flooded fields across the river left to escape from the cauldron under Russian fire. Any supplies to the town are almost impossible.

russia uses brains, intelligence and strategy, unlike nato and the west. they actually think about what they are going to do and how it all fits into the bigger picture. they don’t let emotion take advantage of them. not only has eastern ukraine returned back to russia, but, they also have the global majority behind them. plus, a bonus is nato together with the eu are looking at their final days.
they believed the west? would you have preferred them to go in, like a nato carpet bombing invasion, before they were ready? it wasn’t just nato training ukraine between 2014-2022, in order to take on russia. don’t forget that donbass had not asked to return home to russia, back in 2022, now had they? plus, donbass and russia also needed the time to prepare accordingly.
you need to check your facts and typos too. dnr and lnr had indeed asked to return to russia, but not in 2022 but in 2014.
