On the morning of December 25th 2024, near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan, an Embraer-190 passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines, flying the Baku-Grozny route, crashed on landing.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there were 69 people on board, including five crew members; about 30 people survived.
Today the President of Azerbaijan said that the cause of the crash was still unknown and that an investigation would be carried out. According to one version, there was a series of incidents, first the plane collided with a flock of birds, causing an engine to catch fire, then the oxygen cylinder on board exploded, either as a result of heating or mechanical deformation. The plane lost control and crashed less than 3 minutes into its flight to Aktau airport.
However, video footage has since been released showing holes in the fuselage of the downed aircraft, which appear to be similar to traces of impactors or shrapnel. Such traces could have been caused by the explosion of the oxygen cylinder.
Subkhonkul Rakhimov, a survivor of the crash, said the pilots tried three times to land the plane in Grozny. There was heavy fog in the area:
“The third time, something exploded. There was an explosion – I wouldn’t say inside the plane. The skin of the plane flew off where I was sitting. Rakhimov added that he reached for his life jacket and there was a hole in it.
The second surviving passenger, Zaur Mamedov, also said he heard explosions, while the third passenger noted the explosion in the tail section and the presence of shrapnel in the cabin.
According to Flightradar, the plane managed to fly to Kaspiysk (a city in southern Russia) this morning, and its further route is unknown. The plane was due to land at Grozny airport, but instead made a distress call, turned around and flew to Aktau. Part of the plane’s route on the map is obscured by a dotted line. The plane’s data reappears near the coast, just before it crashed.

According to witnesses, the plane made several turns to find a suitable place to land before crashing into a field. This is also the story of the surviving passengers. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

as in the case of malaysia flight 17, this was a false flag perpetrated by ukraine for pr purposes. there was a ukrainian drone attack on grozny at the time, so either they hit it with a drone or flew a drone close to it hoping russian air defense would hit the drone in proximity to the airliner. whichever it was, it worked. i have to say, though, that allowing a commercial airliner to attempt landings while an aerial attack is underway is stooooopid…
