Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on November 19 he has sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council, urging it to pressure Iraq’s government to put an end to attacks on Israel by “pro-Iranian militias.”
“This evening, I sent a letter to the president of the UN Security Council, in which I called for immediate action regarding the activity of the pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, whose territory is being used to attack Israel,” Saar said in a post on X that featured a copy of the letter.
In a clear warning to the Iraqi government, the minister emphasized in the letter that Israel has “the right to self-defense” in line with the UN Charter.
Israel has faced hundreds of drone and missile attacks from Iraq since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October of last year, with the majority of these attacks being claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), an umbrella group of Iran-backed armed factions.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani dismissed the Israeli letter to the UN Security Council as a “pretext and argument to attack Iraq” and to “expand the war in the region.”
In an official statement, al-Sudani’s office said thatIraq has refused to enter into the regional conflict while “seeking to provide relief to the Palestinian and Lebanese people.”
“Decisions of war and peace are solely within the authority of the Iraqi state, and no party is allowed to infringe upon this right,” the primer said in the statement.
Later on the same day, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that it shot down a drone that was fired at Israel “from the east,” usually indicating it was launched from Iraq. The drone was shot down before entering Israeli airspace, according to the military.
The IRI has not claimed responsibility for the drone attack yet. It’s worth noting that the group escalated its attacks against Israel in September in response to Israel’s ongoing aerial campaign and ground operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli letter to the UN Security Council came amid reports in Arab and Hebrew media suggesting that the IDF may be planning an attack on Iraq.

the zionists issuing a warning ⚠️, yeah okay.
maybe they shouldn’t have asked the us to destroy the old regime in iraq ? funny how all this violence has a tendency to blowback.
if anything is certain due to recent events from russia and the aces of resistance during the 21st century, is that whatever israel and its treasonous israel-first gringo slaves intend to accomplish, the opposite will be the result. people can see what’s happening with their own eyes. the deep state, main stream media have lost the propaganda wars. good times. power to the people. viva la revolucion.
nobody cares what israel has to say. oy vey vey. keep bleeding
a warning here and another one there but nothing much seems to happen after that. no progress on the ground which makes me think its a ruse without effect! the ceasefire agreement by the poofs in washington dc is another attempt to get one enemy off the jews’ back as three enemies is too much for the idf to handle and
airsupremacy is one thing but it doesn’t win wars against a determined combatant with zillion missiles and drones. thus stand tall and the jews will soon be dead! all of the scum!
