The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces have dealt more blows to Kiev forces in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on November 17.
The group inflicted heavy losses on the 22nd, 41st, 47th, 61st mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 92nd Assault Brigade, 80th, 82nd, and 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 116th and 117th Territorial Defence Brigade, the ministry said in a statement, adding that most of the losses took place near the settlements of Daryino, Zelyony Shlyakh, Lebedevka, Makhnovka, Nizhniy Klin, Nikolaevo-Daryno, Novoivanovka, Pogrebki, Sverdlikovo, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, and Cherkaskoye Porechnoye.
In addition, the ministry said that Russian air and artillery strikes hit Kiev forces close to the settlements of Aleksandria, Zaoleshenka, Kurilovka, Leonidovo, Martynovka, Mirny, Nikolayevka, Orlovka, Plyokhovo, Russkoye Porechnoye, Staraya Sorochina, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, and Basovka, Vodolagi, and Zhuravka in the Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“The AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to 320 troops, a German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, four armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a 152 mm D-20 gun, and Anklav-N electronic warfare station. Five AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Separately, the ministry released several videos showing Russian attack helicopters and FPV drones targeting Kiev forces in the Kursk directions.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack to clear the region.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 33,250 troops, 213 tanks, 137 infantry fighting vehicles, 115 armored personnel carriers, 1,171 armored fighting vehicles, 954 motor vehicles, 285 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 66 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
