The Russian military’s Sever Group of Forces repelled two more attacks by Kiev forces and inflicted heavy losses on several Ukrainian formations in the direction of Kursk, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 10.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that the 22nd, 41st, 47th, and 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, as well as the 103rd and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses near the settlements of Daryino, Lyubimovka, Novy Put, and Plekhovo.
The two attacks were repelled by the Sever Group of Forces close to the settlements of Lyubimovka and Kamyshevka, it added.
“As a result, up to 30 troops were killed and wounded; one tank and one motor vehicle were neutralized. Five AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
In addition, the ministry said that Russian air and artillery strikes hit gatherings of the 21st, 22nd, 47th, and 61st mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, and 95th air assault brigades, 1st and 17th national guards brigades, as well as the 103rd, 112th, and 129th territorial defense brigades.
The gatherings were targeted near the settlements of Daryino, Kolmakov, Leonidovo, Lyubimovka, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novy Put, Nizhny Klin, Novoivanovka, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Pravda, Sverdlikovo, Tolsty Lug, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.
Other strikes targeted, according to the ministry, the reserves of the 21st, 47th, and 115th mechanized brigades, 95th Air Assault Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 78th Air Assault Regiment, as well as the 103rd, 112th, and 119th territorial defense brigades close to the settlements of Katerinovka, Mirlogi, Miropolye, Obody, Pavlovka, Rechki, Stepanovka, and Yastrebinoye.
“Over the past 24 hours, more than 200 AFU troops, three tanks, one armored fighting vehicle, one mortar, one electronic warfare station, and one motor vehicle were eliminated. Five AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry said.
The ministry also released several videos showing some of the recent strikes that hit Kiev forces and their equipment in the Kursk direction.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack in Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack. So far, over a dozen settlements have been liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 21,550 troops, 139 tanks, 66 infantry fighting vehicles, 98 armored personnel carriers, 892 armored fighting vehicles, 590 motor vehicles, 177 artillery guns, 33 launchers, including eight American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, nine air defense systems, five transport-loading vehicles, 46 electronic warfare stations, nine counter-battery radars, three aerial radars, 22 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle and three armored recovery vehicle.
