Iraqi forces have reportedly succeed in the recent advances to win back the ISIS-controlled city of Fallujah in Iraq’s Anbar province, deploying only in 400 meters from the Fallujah city center.
“The Iraqi counterterrorism forces are only 400 meters away from Fallujah city center,” Senior Advisor to Anbar Governor Sofian al-Issawi commented the ongoing operation on June 11.
Pro-government sources argue that the Fallujah operation is ongoing according to the plan and the city will be liberated in the nearest future.
On June 10, ISIS militants opened fire on civilians trying to flee the strategic city. About 30 people, mostly women and children, were killed. The civilians were trying to flee through the southern humanitarian corridor from the besieged city.
