Hezbollah launched on September 6 a series of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), mainly using rockets and drones.
In separate statements, the group said it shelled the Zabadin barracks and the Ruwaisa al-Qarn site with rockets and struck the site of Ma’ian Baruch with a suicide drone. It also announced that its fighters targeted surveillance equipment in the site of Metula as well as several buildings occupied by Israeli troops in the settlements of Metula and al-Manara using “suitable weapons.”
The largest attack announced by the group saw a “squadron” of suicide drone attacking gatherings of the IDF near the settlement of Abirim
The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah noted in its statements.
The IDF confirmed that several drones struck the outskirts of Abirim, and said that several buildings in Metula and al-Manara were also hit by projectiles. However, it didn’t report any casualties.
Still, the military launched retaliatory strikes against sites and buildings allegedly used by Hezbollah fighters in the southern Lebanese towns of Matmoura, Aitaroun and Beit Lif. No casualties were reported by Lebanese media after the strikes.
The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war on Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of the Strip.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 20 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 800 people have been killed, including 433 fighters of Hezbollah and over 100 civilians.
