Russian forces are using fake UAVs during massive attacks on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. Ukrainian military sources shared footage of Russian drones intercepted during one of the recent waves of strikes in Ukrainian rear regions. The unknown jet UAV had no warhead.

One of the secrets of Russian success is the use of decoy drones aimed to overload Ukrainian air defense during the massive attacks. The wreckage of the drones discovered by the Ukrainian military showed that the fake UAVs were not carrying explosives and they were not equipped with optics and other reconnaissance equipment.
Hunting for the decoys, Ukrainian air defense forces are wasting precious missiles for Soviet and foreign air defense systems. Overloaded, they cannot repel the strikes with kamikaze UAVs and missiles.

this same tactic can be used against russia however. all air defense complexes are vulnerable to saturation/overload with initial waves of decoys. unless russia takes all of ukraine and uses it as a buffer v nato to protect the motherland — the conflict will still intensify into full blown world war three by next year.

somebody should spread the word to the kiev ukrainians – all those who don’t want/like this madness – that it could be stopped overnight. all they have to do is tell russia they want to be friends and will not threaten it in any way. and that they recognise the right to self determination of their brothers in donbas. that would do it. and then everyone could go about their business in safety.

at least five uavs have been intercepted near the russian capital overnight
russian air defenses were activated to thwart a ukrainian drone attack on moscow, according to the city’s mayor, sergey sobyanin. he reported no casualties or damage on the ground.
engine is a chinese swiwin sw-400 pro ( https://www.sw-jet.com/sw-400pro.html ) priced at round about 6500 usd. so the complete uav probably won’t be more then 10k usd, considered they are using aeromodelling control components and autopilot. not cheap to “throw away” but way cheaper than an “active” air defence missile.
considering the cost of making a fake one, i’d argue that adding 10% more cost to make it functional, would be more efficient. or at least put something useful in there. like a supply of white flags. or some type of jammer, that makes life easier for the other drones.
