On the night of April 8, Russian forces launched new wave of precision strikes on the Ukrainian military and industrial facilities in the rear regions. Successful Russian strikes hit targets in the Dnepropetrovsk, Zhitomir, Odessa and Kiev regions. At the same time, Russian heavy bombs pounded the Ukrainian military in the eastern Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declared that in total, 24 Russian Geran-2 drones were used in the night attack. In their turn, the Ukrainian air defense allegedly shot down 17 kamikaze UAVs. The UAVs were reportedly intercepted in the Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kirovograd, Khmelnitsky and Zhytomyr regions. The Ukrainian military also said that a Kh-59 Ovod cruise missile in the Dnepropetrovsk. The Ukrainian military officials did not confirm any damage but numerous videos from different Ukrainian regions confirmed that the strikes inflicted significant damage to the Ukrainian military and industrial infrastructure.

Numerous explosions thundered in the Odessa region. The local authorities confirmed damage to a “logistics and transport facility”, providing no details.

On the evening of April 7, the Ukrainian media reported large explosions in the port town of Chernomorsk in the Odessa region. Later another large explosion thundered in some other area in the region. As a result, a large fire broke out in the area. The target was likely some port infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military for supplies of weapons and ammunition from abroad.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, a gas station was damaged by wreckage of destroyed Russian drone. This is the official version likely aimed to hide the real losses of the Ukrainian side; but Ukrainian claims rarely correspond to the reality.

At night, a large explosion thundered in the Zhytomir region. As a result of the precision strike an oil depot caught fire in the southwestern part of the town of Novograd-Volynski. The Oilgaztrey oil storage facility was reportedly hit by at least three kamikaze drones. As a result, two tanks with fuel and lubricants were destroyed. This oil depot is a strategically important facility of the Ukrainian military logistics infrastructure. Located close to the railway roads, this depot ensured the supply of fuel and lubricants to the Ukrainian military bases, airfields and other military facilities throughout the country. According to unconfirmed reports, a train was unloading petroleum products on the territory of the facility at the moment of the attack.

Footage confirmed more Russian night strikes in the city of Krivyi Rih.

The successful Russian strikes in the Ukrainian rear regions disrupt military and fuel supplies to the war-torn country from the Western NATO member states. The precision attacks of Russian drones and missiles are catching the Armed Forces of Ukraine off guard. They are the result of the effective complex of intelligence activities of the Russian military in the Ukrainian rear.
