Kiev forces launched more suicide drones and rockets at Belgorod on March 15, just a day after suffering heavy losses in a failed cross-border attack on the Russian region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement released in the early morning that five drones and two Grad 122 mm rockets were shot down over Belgorod. In a separate statement released later, the ministry announced that seven RM-70 122 mm rockets were intercepted over the region.
Videos posted to social media indicate that some civilian vehicles and residential buildings in Belgorod were damaged. There were no reports of casualties, however.
The drone and rocket attack came a day after Kiev forces launched a fairly large cross-border attack in the direction of Belgorod.
During the attack, Kiev forces launched dozens of drones and rockets at Belgorod, killing two civilians and wounding at least 19 others, including children.
Kiev forces attempted to capture the settlement of Spodariushino. However, the attack was quickly repelled by the Russian military. According to the Russian MoD, 195 Ukrainian troops, five tanks, four armored fighting vehicles, three UR-77 self-propelled mine clearing rocket systems and three engineer obstacle-clearing vehicles were neutralized.
The ministry also released videos showing air and artillery strikes targeting Ukrainian troops as well as a Lancet loitering munitions taking out vehicles.
The Kiev regime ramped up its attacks on Russian territory in recent days in order to make up for its recent military failures. The attacks were also a clear attempt to disturb the Russia presidential election, which kicked off on March 15 without any problems.
The recent Ukrainian attacks will not likely go unpunished. The Russian military will likely respond soon with large-scale drone and missile strikes.
