According to preliminary reports from Ukrainian frontlines, Russian forces took control of the central part of the village of Novomikhailovka in the Southern Donetsk direction. Russian flag was reportedly raised on the building of the local administration.
If confirmed, footage from the area shows that Russian servicemen secured the area in the center of the village if the Russian soldier can climb to the roof of the building without threat of being shot by Ukrainian forces. What is reported to be the building of the local administration may be the local Cultural center, located on the central square of Novomikhailovka.
While the control of this exact building is yet to be confirmed by more clear evidence, both Russian and Ukrainian sources confirm Russian advance in the center of Novomikhailovka over the past day. In early March, Russian forces launched successful attacks and broke through Ukrainian defense on the southern streets of the village.
On March 3, Russian flag was raised near the local church located near the Cultural center in the center. Amid the ongoing Russian advance in the center of Novomikhailovka, the Ukrainian garrison risks to be cut in two parts, while the entire settlement is already surrounded from the north-eastern, eastern and southern directions.
