On the morning of December 12, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted another attack on the Russian rear areas. According to the report by the Russian Ministry of Defense, an obsolete Ukrainian Tochka-U missile was destroyed over the Russian border Belgorod region.
The attack took place at 5 a.m. local time and resulted in failure. The missile was intercepted by Russian air defense systems on duty near the Ukrainian border. The Russian military did not reveal details of the incident, but noted that the missile was destroyed in the air.
According to the local authorities, the missile was intercepted over the village of Bessonovka. According to preliminary reports, there is no damage on the ground. Emergency services and law enforcement officers are currently working in the area where the wreckage fell.
Ukrainian attempts to reach targets in deep Russian rear areas have recently decreased. The latest massive drone attack targeted the Crimean peninsula a week ago. LINK
The Ukrainian military also suspended attempts to attack Russian rear with expensive foreign missiles. In recent months, the AFU have launched attacks with their cheaper drones. Strikes with obsolete Tochka-U missiles are more rare but they continue. Most often the AFU use them to target civilians in Russian settlements in the Donbass or in the border regions.
In mid-November, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the village of Rovenki in the Belgorod region with another Tochka-U missile, damaging houses, cars, a local enterprise and a power line.
The Tochka-U missile has a range of about 120 km. The mass of the explosive warhead is more than 160 kg, the area affected by fragments is about 3 hectares. The diameter of the funnel during the explosion of such a rocket is about 15 m. The cluster warhead, the most commonly used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, contains 50 fragmentation elements, each of which has 316 fragments. The striking elements “cover” an area of about 7 hectares.
Despite the facts that the number of Ukrainian strikes in Russian deep rare areas has recently decreased, the AFU do not stop shelling Russian villages located near the Ukrainian border, terrorising civilian population.
According to the Governor of the Russian Belgorod region, the AFU launched the following attacks on December 10 alone:
- the AFU attacked the village of Zhuravlevka with a kamikaze drone, causing no casualties or damage;
- the outskirts of a farm in the Volokonovsky district were shelled with a mortar; no damage was reported;
- 4 mortar shells were fired in the Grayvoronsky urban district on the outskirts of the village of Spodaryushino; there was also no damage;
- the outskirts of the village of Staroselye in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district came under artillery fire, and an unidentified explosive device was dropped from a UAV. There was no damage reported;
- 9 artillery and 6 mortar shells were fired at the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Shebekinsky urban district;
- 3 mortar shells were fired at the village of Mukhin;
- 3 mortar shells were fired at the villages of Sereda and Belyanka. There are no casualties or damage recorded in any of the settlements of the district.
big order of sling shots on the way
