On the morning of November 7, loud explosions were reported near the Taganrog airfield located on the coast of the Sea of Azov in the Russian Rostov region. The airfield hosts Russian IL-76 cargo aircraft.

The claims about some explosions were shared in the morning. They were accompanied with a photo of a smoke on the runway, which turned to be an old one and had nothing to do with the situation in the area on November 7.

The governor of the Rostov region claimed that the air defense systems did not work this morning in Taganrog. There were also no reports of any attacks by the Ukrainian military.

Later, the local sources supposed that the explosions could be the result of the supersonic flight of the Su-35S fighter in the area.

Since the beginning of November, the governor of the Rostov region has twice reported on the interception of enemy targets by air defense forces in the region.

The day before, on the evening of November 6, the local authorities reported that two Ukrainian missiles, which were heading towards the Rostov region, were intercepted by Russian Air Defense forces over the border of the region. On November 2, two more targets were intercepted by Russian forces.

In July, a rocket fell in the center of Taganrog. As a result of the attack, the local museum, several garages and outbuildings were damaged. There were no casualties, but more than 20 people were wounded. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that fragments of a downed modified missile of the S-200 complex fell in the town, and blamed Kiev for the terrorist attack.
