A series of Israeli strikes hit southern Lebanon on November 4 morning, a few hours after the country’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Jordan.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that it had struck two cells in southern Lebanon that planned to open fire at Israel, possibly with anti-tank guided missiles. An observation post belonging to Hezbollah was also targeted, according to the IDF.
A day earlier, the IDF announced strikes on a cell that approached the border with Lebanon and said tanks shelled another anti-tank missile squad in the area. From its side, Hezbollah admitted that one of its fighters was killed in action.
The last wave of Israeli strikes came just a few hours after Mikati met with Blinken in Amman. During the meeting, the Lebanese primer emphasized the importance of working towards a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and stopping Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon.
Mikati also stressed Lebanon’s commitment to international legitimacy and the implementation of United Nations Resolution 1701, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to cease its violations.
Blinken, in turn, emphasized his efforts to halt military operations for humanitarian reasons and to address the issue of prisoners.
Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah had warned Israel not to launch a preemptive offensive against Lebanon and threatened to target U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea during his first speech since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
“I tell the Israelis, if you are considering carrying out a preemptive attack against Lebanon, it will be the most foolish mistake you make in your entire existence,” he said during his speech on November 3.
Speaking as Nasrallah was giving his speech, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the “enemies in the north” not to make the costly mistake of escalating the war.
“You cannot imagine how much this will cost you,” he warned.
Hezbollah and its allies, including the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions, have been attacking Israel from southern Lebanon in support of Gaza for weeks now.
So far, the clashes on the Lebanon front have claimed the lives of eight Israelis -six soldiers and two civilians- 56 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, seven Palestinian fighters -three from the Hamas Movement and four from the Islamic Jihad- and seven Lebanese civilians -two shepherds, a teenager, two elderly men and two journalists-.
as usual, the zionists are lying about their own casualties just like they lie about everything else.
the deranged khazar squatters in palestine should be terrified by what they have unleashed. they have shown the rest of humanity the unspeakable evil that lies in the withered heart of zionists and those abettor$ that recite the nauseating supremacist cant of the chosenite demons and their “6 million” hollow cost cult. must 6 million palestinians be butchered before they too receive cult “status” in the so-called west? they will all pay a terrible price for this latest river of blood.
