The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on October 26 that it had carried out a “targeted raid” in the northern part of the Gaza Strip with infantry forces and tanks.

Israeli troops struck numerous infrastructure and anti-tank guided missile launch positions of the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions during the raid, the IDF said in a statement, adding that the raid is part of preparing the border area for the “next stages of the war.”

Video footage released by the IDF showed a dozen armored bulldozers, main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers crossing the Gaza fence and opening fire at several targets. The IDF said troops left the Strip after the raid.

The raid appears to be the largest IDF incursion into Gaza since the war broke out after the October 7 Hamas-led surprise attack on Israel. The attack claimed the lives of 1,405 people and left more than 5,431 wounded. 218 others were also taken hostage.

A day earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the IDF was getting ready for a ground operation, without providing any details.

“We are preparing for a ground incursion. I won’t specify when, how, how many. I also won’t detail the range of considerations, most of which the public is not aware of. And that’s the way it is supposed to be. This is the way, so that we protect our soldiers’ lives,” the prime minister said in an address to the nation.

Netanyahu went on to reveal that “the timing of the operation was determined unanimously by the war cabinet and the chief of staff.”

The IDF’s “targeted raid” in Gaza also came after a report by The Wall Street Journal revealed that Israel had, temporarily, consented to a United State request to delay the invasion of the Strip.

The delay is meant to allow the U.S. Military to deploy air defense systems in the Middle East, including at bases located in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to protect them after a series of drone and rocket attacks by Iranian-backed forces.

This delay is expected to last till next week. Nevertheless, the last raid indicates that the Israeli invasion of Gaza is inevitable.

The IDF will likely escalate strikes on Gaza in coming days. So far, the bombardment on the Strip has claimed the lives of at least 6546 Palestinains, including 2,704 children, and wounded more than 17439 others, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

i’m pretty sure that’s been the plan since the royal navy switched to oil from coal. “stir” them up, as zbig said, and then flip the table over with the power of the us empire. they may be clapped out and in decline, but they are still the largest empire the world has ever endured.

netanyahu in a speech yesterday confirms the dream of greater israel by declaring that he will fulfill isaiah’s prophecy by saying, “we are the people of light, the people of darkness, we will fulfill isaiah’s prophecy, which speaks of the destruction of iraq, damascus, yemen, egypt and the establishment of a greater israel between the rivers, the nile and the euphrates.”
