Iraqi forces get close with ISIS in Hit of Anbar province

On Saturday Iraqi local media said that Iraqi forces have liberated more areas from ISIS terrorist group as they close in on an ISIS den in the western city of Hit in Anbar Province.

A local media reported that the elite Counter-Terrorism Service, police, army and tribal militiamen captured a bridge in the city of al-Baghdadi which is situated northwest of Hit along the Euphrates River.

It is also reported today in Iraq’s al-Summeriyah TV that pro-government forces liberated a cement factory in Kubaysah.

On Thursday Iraqi forces seized al-Muhammadi neighborhood of Hit, raising the Iraqi flag on top of a government building in the area.

After the government liberation of the provincial capital of Ramadi in late December, these are the latest gains against ISIS terrorists in Hit and surrounding areas in Anbar.

On Thursday, in a statement the UN said that more than 50,000 people were internally displaced in Anbar since the start of 2016 as a result of intense fighting between the government and ISIS terrorists.

Since June 2014, Iraq has been observing a sudden surge of ISIS terrorist activities. The US-led coalition started its operations allegedly hitting ISIS, although many believes ISIS is a creation of the west.

The 66-member US-led coalition has been failing to control ISIS terrorism, when a concerted push by Iraqi forces are dealing terrorists and forcing it out from the key cities of Iraq.
