Early on October 29, the dead body of an ISIS Sharia judge was found in the town of Jasim in the western countryside of Syria’s Daraa.

The terrorist, identified Faleh Shehadeh al-Azizi, was apparently abducted then executed. Several gunshots were found on his dead body.

Al-Azizi first worked as a Sharia judge for the ISIS-affiliated Khalid Ibn al-Walid Army, which was active in the Yarmouk Valley in the western Daraa countryside. After the defeat of the terrorist group in 2018, al-Azizi began working with ISIS directly. However, in secret.

Jasim was under the de-facto control of ISIS cells, who maintained a network of hideouts and a Sharia court there. The terrorist group’s presence in Jasim ended earlier this month, when the Syrian military, intelligence and local fighters launched a security operation to clear the town.

The operation, which took place between October 14 and 25, claimed the lives of at least 20 terrorists, including senior commanders of ISIS in southern Syria.

The death of al-Azizi was yet another large blow to ISIS cells in southern Syria, who sustained heavy human losses in the last few months.

ISIS is already trying to make a comeback. Late on October 28, a suicide attack, that was reportedly orchestrated by the terrorist group, killed four in Daraa city. The group’s desperate attacks will not likely intimidate government forces and local fighters.
