On October 28, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced its intelligence unit had foiled a bomb attack in the southern city of Shiraz.
An unnamed security official in the IRGC told the Fars News Agency that the bomb was found on October 26 following the shooting attack in the Shah Cheragh shrine. 15 worshipers were killed and more than 40 others were wounded as a result of the attack.
The bomb, a remotely-controlled incendiary device, was reportedly found in Mo’ali Abad, one of the busiest streets in Shiraz.
ISIS has already claimed responsibility for the deadly shooting attack in Shiraz. The terrorist group was likely also behind the fail bombing attempt.
The Iranian government has organized nationwide demonstrations against the shooting attack following mass prayers on Friday, October 28. Funerals were also due to take place for the victims.
The attack came as Iran continues to face protests over the death of Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old Kurdish woman died in September after she was detained by the country’s morality police for wearing an improper hijab.
Top officials in the country, including President Ebrahim Raisi and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, have already vowed that the attack in Shiraz would not go unanswered. The IRGC will likely respond to the attack by targeting hideouts of ISIS in Iraq or Syria with missiles and drones, as it did on several occasions in the past.
“The 22-year-old Kurdish woman died in September after she was detained by the country’s morality police for wearing an improper hijab.” Mahsa Amini was not, by any stretch of the imagination, detained at the time of her death, as your statement suggests. Even worse, this statement implies a correlation between her death and the arrest a few days earlier. She was free at the time of her death, and her collapse clearly indicated a major heart event, such as ventricular fibrillation.
What the hell happened to Southfront? I don’t tell this only for this amateurish error (consciously or otherwise), but as the amount of Israeli propaganda regurgitation indicates some fundamental policy changes has happened. Sad, I use to recommend it to everyone, I still do sometimes but only for more specific reasons. The changes resemble another favorite site of mine, Asiatimes, for a decade ago or more, which got ruined beyond recognition by mass infiltration of Yankees and in particular Zionist.
