Last night, an explosion took place at the Yuzhnaya electrical substation in the Russian city of Belgorod. As a result of the incident, some districts of the city were cut off from electricity and water supplies.
According to Belgorodenergo, the accident at the 110 kV Yuzhnaya substation took place at about midnight, as a result, residents of the Kharkov mountain region of Belgorod were left without electricity and water. Socially significant facilities were promptly put at work thanks to backup power supply sources. The engineers are completing the transfer to the city’s household consumers to backup sources.
The reason of the accident were not revealed. Various sources suppose that the explosion was the result of a terrorist attack by Ukrainian saboteurs.
On September 8, two missiles were shot down by Russian air defense systems over the city of Belgorod. The attack resulted in some material damage. Several civilian houses were damaged by the shrapnel. No one was wounded.
The Russian border regions are constantly targeted by Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian artillery is shelling villages located near the Ukrainian border, while Ukrainian UAVs and missiles target the city of Belgorod but they are usually intercepted by the Russian air defense forces. The threat in the Russian border areas has recently grown since the beginning of Ukrainian offensive in the Kharkov region. The activation of Ukrainian saboteurs on the Russian, DPR and LPR territories should be expected as well.
