The US wants to take strong punitive measures while China wants negotiations with Pyongyang in accordance to non-proliferation regulations regarding its latest nuclear test.

China and US agree on draft resolution of sanctions against North Korea

On Wednesday, a western news agency reported that the US and China had reached an agreement over a draft resolution to tighten the UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea over its recent nuclear test.

“It’s a substantive, long, full draft… which I hope will be adopted in the coming days…There is an agreement between those two countries,” a senior Security Council member said.

The council member also said that the agreement of negotiations between Washington and Beijing will be presented to the rest of the 15-member council over the next few days.

North Korea which is under UN sanctions over its nuclear tests and missiles launches, declared itself a nuclear power in 2005 and carried out three other nuclear weapons tests in 2006, 2009 and 2013. The country conducted its fourth nuclear test on January 6, which created global reactions.

Maybe they are pragmatic like the Russians. Neither country wants to commit nuclear suicide like some of the degenerates in Washington. The North Koreans maybe a bigger threat to China from a nuclear perspective than to the US.
