On July 26, a large explosion destroyed a weapon depot belonging to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a de facto ruler in Greater Idlib.

The explosion rocked the village of Ma’arat Shalef, near the town of Qurqanya, north of Idlib. The reasons behind the explosion are still unknown.

The explosion reportedly resulted in no casualties; but some sources claimed deaths of civilians that are yet to be confirmed.

The exploded depot was located in the middle of a civilian settlement that is a usual practice of Syrian terrorists.

The same day, according to unconfirmed reports, clashes between unknown gunmen and HTS members erupted at al-Ram checkpoint near the town of Maarrat Sarin. The clashes reportedly followed an attack by the gunmen, who were later forced to escape. Several HTS members were reportedly injured.

If confirmed, the clashes and the explosion, amid the ongoing Russian air strikes on militants’ positions in Greater Idlib, marked a bad day for Syrian terrorists.
