On February 15th, an IED attack took place in Gorlovka, Eastern Ukraine.
The IED hit the car of a battalion commander of the Donetsk People’s Republic forces. He is only referred to with the nickname “Dlinniy” (Tall Guy).
The explosive was installed on the bottom of his car and it exploded as he was driving his daughter to school.
The battalion commander and his daughter are currently in the hospital.
The condition of the battalion commander Sergei Popov, call sign “Tall Guy”, is estimated by doctors as moderate, he is being operated on.

Preliminary diagnosis: multiple shrapnel wounds on the lower extremities, shrapnel fracture of the hip. His daughter has a concussion and is in shock, there are no other visible injuries.
Below are photographs from the attack, by unknown assailants. According to reports, the battalion under this commander had been causing a lot of trouble for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Eastern Ukraine in recent months and weeks.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Ukraine, the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) HQ reported that a UAV was reportedly used to drop two VOG-17 HE grenades near Ukrainian positions.
“In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the armed formations of the Russian Federation opened fire from an under-barrel grenade launcher, a heavy machine gun and small arms near Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area. One Ukrainian soldier sustained a gunshot wound in an unknown explosive device blast near Pavlopil (25km north-west of Mariupol). The serviceman was promptly taken to a medical facility, where he received the necessary medical assistance,” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reported on February 13th.
In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘North’, the Russian occupation forces used a UAV to drop two VOG-17 grenades near the Joint Forces positions in the area of the village of Zolote 4. In addition, the flight of an enemy UAV over the contact line was recorded near Novoluhanske (53km north-east of Donetsk), which was suppressed in time by electronic warfare equipment.
On February 14th, Ukraine said that the DPR and LPR violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas three times.
“In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the Russian-occupation troops opened fire from tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns and small arms on Ukrainian positions near Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area,” the press center of the JFO Headquarters said.
Previously, on February 11th, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed – one reportedly by sniper fire, the other as a result of heavy machine gun fire.
