Afghan Army Chief General Mohammad Yasin Zia announced on November 6 that the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) had recaptured the district of Arghandab in the southern province of Kandahar from the Taliban.
Arghandab, which is located near the city of Kandahar, was captured by Taliban fighters around two weeks ago. The fighters launched a large-scale attack on the district center.
Gen. Zia told TOLOnews that the ANDSF killed at least 200 Taliban fighters while recapturing the district of Arghandab.
The district’s residents, who were displaced as a result of the Taliban attack, are now returning to their homes. However, mines and improvised explosive devices, which had been planted by Taliban fighters, are still posing a threat to civilians.
Meanwhile in the southern province of Helmand, At least four Taliban insurgents were killed and six others were captured in an operation by Afghan special forces in the district of Nad Ali.
Despite the ongoing peace talks, Taliban fighters continue to launch attacks against government forces in different parts of Afghanistan.

Security sources told TOLOnews that Taliban fighters attacked military positions in the districts of Baghlan-e-Markazi and Nahrin as well as on the outskirts of Pul-e-Khumri city, the center of Baghlan province. During the attack in Nahrin, Taliban fighters blocked a highway leading to the center of Baghlan province.
