China Starting Work on ‘Power of Siberia’ Pipeline

China started construction of its part of the Power of Siberia pipeline to receive Russian gas last week. The welding of the first pipe joint is scheduled for the end of June. The start of works on the new pipeline strikes hard Eurocracy which started an economic war aganist Russian energy companies last year by countering South Stream project.

In 2014, Russia and China signed a 30-year gas supply contract that will see the construction of the East-Route Pipeline, also known as the Power of Siberia. It will provide China with 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, starting in 2018.
