ISIS Terrorists Raid Nigerian Army Position In Borno (Photos)

On June 6, ISIS terrorists carried out a hit-and-run attack on a position of the Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) in the northwestern state of Borno.

According to the group’s news agency Amaq, heavy clashes broke out around the position, that’s located near the town of Uno. Eventually, the terrorists stormed the position and set it on fire.

Eight service members of the NAF were allegedly killed and others were injured in the attack. Photos released by Amaq shows the dead bodies of two soldiers only.

Last months, ISIS stepped up its attacks on civilians and government forces in Boron. In response, the NAF launched a series of operations against the group’s remnants. Dozens of terrorists were reportedly killed.

ISIS in West Africa (ISWA), known as Boko Haram, has been active in the areas bordering Lake Chad, for several years now. Nigerian government forces are making serious efforts to counter the terrorist threat there. These efforts have been successful to a limited extent only.
