The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Accord (GNA) launched on June 6 a large operation, dubbed “Safe Country,” to secure the areas recently captured from Libyan National Army (LNA).

“Operation Safe Country aims to impose and control security, prosecute wanted perpetrators and protect citizens’ lives, livelihoods, and property,” the operations room said in an official statement.

The operation will be led by Brig. Gen. Mohamed Al Madaghi. Lt. Ayman Bin Jamea was appointed as a spokesman for the operation.

Earlier this week, GNA forces, with support from Turkey, secured significant gains around the capital, Tripoli. On June 3, the Tripoli International Airport was captured. Two days later, the town of Tarhunah was captured. Lawlessness is now prevailing over these areas, with many reports of looting and ransacking taking place there.

The GNA is now bracing to launch a large-scale attack on the coastal town of Sirte, a key oil export port. Some sources are even claiming that the al-Jufra Air Base, where UAE forces are reportedly deployed, will be also targeted.

Turkish combat drones are providing air support for GNA forces, which were also reinforced with around 11,000 Syrian militants. On the other side, the LNA lacks a direct military support from its key backers – Egypt and the UAE.

In any country so called war lords try to use anarchial situation to get control and finance with little regard to country itself. Quiet usual in current Africa, whether it is colonial result (including NATO intervention) or not. Even though Turkey is a NATO member being part of the reason why Libya is in current situation, but gotta choose less of the 2 evils. War Lord or a UN recognised government, the answer is quiet clear.
