Turkish-backed Forces Claim They Captured 102 LNA Soldiers In Attack On Tarhunah (Videos)

Forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) announced on April 18 that they had captured 102 soldiers of the Libyan National Army (LNA) during their ongoing attack on the town of Tarhunah.

GNA forces launched the attack on Tarhunah, which is located to the southeast of the country’s capital, Tripoli, in the morning with a direct support from Turkey. Turkish-backed Syrian militants and allegedly Turkish drones are supporting the attack.

Pro-GNA operations room, Volcano of Anger, claimed that ten vehicles, four battle tanks and a howitzer were captured from the LNA. A video released by the operations room shows one of the captured battle tanks, a Soviet T-55.

GNA forces have clearly inflicted heavy losses on the LNA around Tarhunah. Nevertheless, some of their claims have not been verified, yet.

A source in the LNA told Sputnik that the attack on Tarhunah was repelled, claiming that 25 GNA fighters were captured. In spite of these claims, clashes are reportedly still ongoing around the town

Earlier this week, GNA forces captured several towns in northern Libya in a large attack backed by Turkey.
