On April 4, the Houthis raided several fortified positions of Saudi-backed forces in the Kingdom’s southern province of Najran.
Houthi fighters clashes with Saudi-backed forces from close distance forcing them to abandon the positions, which are located west of the al-Shabakah on the Saudi-Yemeni borders. Saudi-backed force left behind some of their weapons, including heavy machine guns.
Earlier this week, the Houthis launched a limited ground operation in southern Najran, in the al-Ajashir desert along the border line. So far, the Yemeni group has captured the al-Shakiri position and vast areas of the desert.
The Houthis are attacking Saudi Arabia’s Najran from their mountainous stronghold, the northern Yemeni province of Saada.
Houthi fighters have been dominating the border with Saudi Arabia since the outbreak of the war in 2015. The Saudi-led coalition made countless attempts to secure the border. All resulted in very limited success.
