Whipping Of ‘2nd Strongest NATO Army’ In Idlib Continues. 2 Turkish Soldiers Killed, 6 Injured

On March 4, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that 2 Turkish soldiers had been killed and 6 others had been injured in Syrian Army strikes on the area of Operation Spring Shield in Syria’s Idlib. In other words, the Syrian military once again pounded invaders that support al-Qaeda in the region.

On March 3, a Turkish soldier was killed and 9 others were injured in Syrian-Iranian strikes on their positions near Nayrab. Therefore, the confirmed casualties of the Turkish Army during the past 24 hours are 3 – dead, 15 – injured.

The March 4 statement by the Turkish Defense Ministry also included some other numbers regarding the supposed casualties of the Syrian Army in the operation. Ankara demonstrates an incredible level of propaganda. So, according to the defense ministry, Turkish-led forces had destroyed 3 warplanes, 8 helicopters, 3 UAVs, 151 battle tanks, 47 artillery pieces, 52 rocket launchers, 8 air defense systems, 12 anti-tank weapons, 4 mortars, 51 armoured vehicles, 34 pickups armed with weapons, 60 other vehicles and 10 weapon depots. 3,138 Syrian soldiers were allegedly neutralized. Apparently, soon the Turkish Defense Ministry will claim that its forces had destroyed the al-Assad aircraft carrier strike group near Tartus.

US Conducted ‘Defensive’ Strike on Taliban Fighters Who Attacked Afghan Forces – USFOR-A Spokesman

The news comes after American officials and the Taliban movement signed a peace agreement in the Qatari capital of Doha, stipulating foreign troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.
US forces carried out an airstrike against Taliban militants on Wednesday, USFOR-A spokesman Colonel Sonny Leggett announced on Twitter. According to the statement, it was a defensive measure.

Idlib is integral part of Syria.
So apart from having contract for military bases, Russia was officially invited to help Syria in fight against the terrorists.
This anti-terrorism was never targeted against Turkey but against terrorists.
But Turkey didn’t respect Sochi agreement between Russia, Iran and Turkey
So now ILLEGAL incursion of Turk army tries to help the terrorist all the
time and fights literally on their side embedded among the terrorists.
That is the only reason why Turk soldiers get killed.
This is practically Turk declaration of war to Syria.
Again, apart from agreed observation posts Turkey was never invited
Presence of Turk army is totally ILLEGAL.
An open aggression just like USA presence is.There is no way in the world that Russia can afford to let Turkey to pull this pro-terrorist plans in Idlib. That is opposite of what was agreed
in Sochi and unacceptable for Russia.
The extermination of the terrorists will continue with or without embedded Turk soldiers (that is Turk choice)
If Turkey decide to attack any Russian unit, aircraft or facility they will be
in the state of war against the Russian Federation and pay the consequences dearly.
Second rate power like Turkey will not dictate to world power Russia that is LEGALLY present in Syria what to do or not to do.

You are embedded with terrorists you will share the destiny of the terrorists!

Jens Holm

They dont like Jihadists, they just think You are even worse and Turkish PKKs are crawling all over.

yep

Whatever they “like”, “think” or prefer is Turk problem and should stay in Turkey and not be imposed on the others.
They might as well learn to keep their opinion for themselves before somebody ask them what they think.
Surely not to betray agreement and use it as travesty for invasion of Idlib in support of terrorism.
That shell not pass !

Jens Holm

I allow me to have my own oppinion covered by most people: Turks dont support Jihadists. They support the ones, which fight them and never liked Assads.

And some probatly are as written here may times in old days thinking some President from a low class basement is a cloned Osman.

yep

It is of no importance if Turks directly or indirectly “support” Jewhadists.
Basically they do support everybody who fights Assad, otherwise Al Qaeda”HTS” would not be able to survive with Turk blockade of border.
Thinking otherwise is naive.

Ronald

Very well put.

Attilla

Russia, Iran and Syria army kill 600.000 Muslims Sunni.

Russia will mingle very soon and Syria will be a grave for Russians.

Caesar

Would you please stop using such a low level language.
You make me womit.

yep

It is not “Russia, Iran and Syria” but Mossad and CIA who did that by creating ISIS and Al Qaeda.
And it is gullible Iraqi and Syrian Sunni Muslims who have fallen in that carefully planned JEWISH TRAP !

Russia and Syria has no reason in the world to be anti-Sunni.
Sunni are total majority in Syria and one day Syrian president should be Sunni
Russian Muslims are Sunni Muslims.
Again it is Zionists who make all this blood shed and it is Erdogan who tries to take advantage of the situation by using Al Qaeda “HTS” for Turk objectives in Syria.
Russia has invested lot in last 5 years in this anti-terrorist fight and there is no way in the World that Turkey can impose salvage and return of terrorists in Idlib

Jew-Calphate project is destroyed and now is the time to destroy the rest of Al Qaeda to remove the root of the problem.

Sunni should not be JEWhadists!
They can’t possibly continue killing other Muslims for Israeli interests !

FlorianGeyer

Well said, Yep.

Lone Ranger

Those were killed by your headchopper buddies.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Sarcasm and Satire work sometimes, but it’s much harder to appreciate after watching a couple of these Turkish combat videos.

Erol

Yep, and that is just Turkey…
US with its more advanced EW-Systems and stealthy F-22 and F-35 jets,
could probably decimate any Russian Air Defence System.
I hope Turkey will not activate S-400 and take F-35 instead.

Lone Ranger

U.S. systems are 20years behind Russia and China ;)

Erol

Really?
The F-22 Raptor is in Use since 1997…
PAK-Fa is today in 2020 still not finished.

Has Russia something like B2 Stealh Bombers or F-35???

yep

You are right!
1997…so that makes 23 years behind not 20 !
Because F-35 doesn’t count of course.
Can’t accelerate, can’t shoot straight, can’t turn, can’t even run away.
Very sad.

Lone Ranger

F-22 was designed in the 80s.
Thats why its behind.
Su-57 entered service this year, mass production started.
Its systems are much more advanced, it also has longer range weapons.
B2 is a slow subsonic bomber its only advantage is stealth which is much worth anymore against state if tbe art Russian and Chinese radars.
Russia has the T-160 and now the new regit version.
Much more potent.
The Flop-35 is a failure, the program wasnt ended because if corrupt politicans buy the notion that its too big too fail.
The Flop-35 has its origins in the Yak-141, Lockheed bought the blueprints from Russia in 1992 for $400 million.
Lockheed than tasked British BAE systems to mod it that became the X-35 in 2000.
But overall its a flop.
F-16s can beat it at mock combats.
Quality is sub par, doesnt have supercruise or super maneuverability, nir libg range BVR missiles.

Erol

So the US jets and Bombers mentioned were designed in 80s…
Than you can be sure that US 6th Generation Bombers and Jets are already developed and are in Hangars kept secret,
while Russia struggles for 5th Generation Jets.

Lone Ranger

Russia isnt struggling.
They needed half the time to put the Su-57 in service compared to the F-22 and the floppy.
U.S. could have 6th gen but I doubt it, they wouldnt push the F,-16, F-18 and the Flop-35 if they had something better.
It could be in the works tho.
Russia is also working on its first 6th gen the Mig-41.

yep

Also upgraded F-15X also.

That is the best proof that F-22 needs help to do the job because they can’t count on Flop-35 in anything really.

Lone Ranger

Also U.S. Navy started ordering more F-18 Superhornets, they said they need a reliable jet they can count on…I rest my case :)

yep

Yes a “work horse” as they call it because the most reliable and polyvalent Navy has.

Which makes “dead horse” out of Flop-35 because least reliable and not even monovalent :-))

Lone Ranger

Bingo.

Lone Ranger

Russia has the Su-27SM, Su-30SM, Su-34, Su-35SM, Su-57, Mig-29SMT and Mig-35.
I wouldnt worry ;)

Chris P

Not true. USA has a much better airforce. No comparison. The f-35 is a joke, but they have a lot of stuff. Not the same category as Russia. Russia has a very small airforce, without the money to be comparable. Not taking sides, just saying be honest with yourself.

yep

Turk F-16 are low budget light combat jets and can’t be match to SU-30 let alone SU-35

Swift Laggard II

but to be fair, the Russians have not activated their air defence even once, for reasons only known to them. It would be a serious misreading of the situation to imagine that it would be easy to take on the Russians based on what has happened

Hanny Benny

really?!?
knows this all the genius sultan?

Wayne Nicholson

If the Turks were as devastating as you say why is Saraqub now in SAA hands and the Turkish backed forces in retreat?

The turkish backed counter offensive got maybe 10 km before it ran out of steam and was driven back.

The Turks did all their damage to the SAA over a period where the Russians stood down and turned off their air defences and EW in a misguided effort to deescalate. As soon as they engaged again the Turks were denied the airspace to operate and Turkish gains were rolled back.

Russia’s “no fly zone” is enforced by a single S-400 battery, an S-350 battery, an EW battalion and 4 SU-35 air superiority fighters. They can render the second largest army in NATO impotent and crying out for US and NATO to rescue them using just these forces.

Wayne Nicholson

Did you ever consider what you were actually seeing as opposed to what you are told you were seeing?

There are 2 way you can tell who did the most damage to the other side and is winning the conflict.

The first is to digest media reports from one side or the other. Since there are no real independent reporters on the ground you have to rely on press releases from one side or the other.

The second is to look at a map and see which side is meeting their objectives.

The objective of the Turkish counter offensive was to force the SAA back to it’s starting line as per Astans agreement.

Did they achieve their objectives? From what I can see they managed to advance a few km on 2 fronts before getting pushed back by the SAA and now the Turkish backed side are back on the defensive. But hey …. according to the Turks they destroyed more tanks than the SAA had in the field and they did it with Bayrakta drones with a 200kg weapons payload.

The Turks did do a lot of damage to the SAA a few days ago but not with drones. What they claim are drone strikes are guided artillery strikes …. Turkey makes drones and wants to sell them.

They did the damage over a short period where the Russians turned off their air defences and EW in a misguided effort to deescalate …. you can read about it here https://ejmagnier.com/2020/03/01/erdogan-idlib-is-mine/

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Why does SF continually describe the SAA’s losses to Turkey as catastrophic, you don’t use that sort of language when your own sides winning, only when it’s losing.
…….

– “There are 2 way you can tell who did the most damage to the other side and is winning the conflict.
The first is to digest media reports from one side or the other. Since there are no real independent reporters on the ground you have to rely on press releases from one side or the other.
The second is to look at a map and see which side is meeting their objectives.
The objective of the Turkish counter offensive was to force the SAA back to it’s starting line as per Astans agreement.” –
……

So you don’t think there were any political gains or losses that should’ve been included in the equation, personally I think the Turkish political gains with the international community were actually Assad’s and Syria’s greatest losses, not the military losses, but ok we’ll leave that part of the equation aside and just focus on the territorial gains and losses as well as the objectives of both parties.
You proffered the Turks objectives and claimed they weren’t being fulfilled, but Assad’s objectives weren’t fulfilled either, and his objective was the preliminary objectictive.
Assad wanted to liberate ALL of the lost territory, Latakia, Idlib, and Aleppo, and he was off to a good start too, he was smashing the rebels to kingdom come until the Turks intervened, but when the Turks did intervene that operation ended, the conflict widened into a SAA versus the rebels/Turks conflict, and things have slowed to a snails pace. Yesterday the SAA retook a couple of rebel held villages in Idlib and today I can see the rebels are trying to do the same thing to 2 villages in Aleppo, but things have ground to a halt effectively, we’re now at a stalemate situation with both sides just holding the lines.
So at this stage neither parties objectives are being met, the Turks are effectively halting the SAA liberation of Idlib by digging in, and the SAA hade stopped the Turks doing what they said they would, but the Turks are now more involved and more committed than they ever were, that’s not good.
Turkey had 2 objectives not just the one you proffered, Yes Erdogan’s said he wants to push the SAA back to the areas they occupied prior Astana agreement, but he first had to halt the SAA advances to do it, and that part of the objective is being fulfilled atm.
So in essence Assad’s objectives are put on hold for now and Erdogan’s are only half fulfilled, so I’m afraid Erdogan gets 1 point for that and Assad gets 0, so I think Erdogan wins this round.
As to territorial gains that’s much harder to evaluate just looking at the maps, you have to take into account many factors to make sense of what you see, how hard was it to win that piece of territory, how hard is going to be to hold onto it, how high value was it in the first place, these factors alone make looking at a map in isolation and then judging success or failure problematic. For example the exodus of rebel fighters from southern Idlib, on the map it looks like a huge gain but in reality it was just an organized withdrawal and relocation of the rebels to more defensible positions, maps don’t always show the big picture realistically.
So I’ll concede the maps looks good now, and I will award Assad 1 point for that and 0 for Erdogan, but as I just said the map doesn’t always tell the true story, I’m being very generous giving Assad the full point, it really only should be half a point.
I think a big part of the equation is in the casualties and losses of both sides, especially when compared to territorial gains and losses, and then also add in the political consequences of the actions, that gives me a better ideas of who’s actually winning or losing, unfortunately we don’t have access to reliable info concerning casualties and have to make do with news reports and videos.

During the last few months I’ve been posting on SF and saying Assad should be wary of the Turkish artillery building up in Idlib and on the Turkish border, I’ve been saying Turkish artillery will be totally devastating to the SAA and that if Erdogan started using them they’d be used to stop all SAA advances dead in their tracks, but I never mentioned drones being a threat, I didn’t even think of them until I started seeing the footage online, but now I can see they’re also very devastating.
I’ve been reading that Turkish combat drones now rival the US’s in abilities, so showcasing them here on the world stage is certainly one way for Erdogan to market his produce, so wouldn’t it be nice if Putin did something to ruin that for him, like jamm them over Idlib so the SAA could shoot them down a lot easier.
The Russians should be jamming those drones as soon as they fly over the border, the Russians supposedly have the capabilities to do it electronically, so they should be using those capabilities to stop the drones before they can do any damage. I can understand Russia’s reluctance to directly confront a totally insane and unpredictable madman like Erdogan, but defending an ally without endangering Turkish soldiers wouldn’t be confrontational at all, just justifiable defensive measures, Russians are on the ground too and Erdogan can’t complain about the Russians protecting their own.
And as you said the artillery is a much bigger threat to the SAA than the drones are, so even if Russia does stop the drones with E war capabilities, the SAA still has the Turkish artillery to worry about.

Elijah J Magnier is a very clever guy and I think he’s spot on with his analysis, I’ve read several articles of his that were republished on Sf and tend to agree with nearly everything he says, which is unusual for me, he’s an honest thinker and able to remain totally impartial which makes this particular analysis very accurate, at least I think it is, there’s nothing in it I’d disagree with, thanks for the link.

Wayne Nicholson

“You proffered the Turks objectives and claimed they weren’t being fulfilled, but Assad’s objectives weren’t fulfilled either, and his objective was the preliminary objectictive.”

The SAA’s offensive is an ongoing operation. The Turkish led counter offensive was supposed to drive the SAA back to the original Sochi start line. The Turkish led operation petered out after less than a week and they are retreating again. I don’t know the true objectives of the SAA offensive other than to liberate the M4 and M5 highways but they are gaining ground toward that objective while the Turks are retreating.

“For example the exodus of rebel fighters from southern Idlib, on the map it looks like a huge gain but in reality it was just an organized withdrawal and relocation of the rebels to more defensible positions, maps don’t always show the big picture realistically.”

Of course the Turks could be baiting a trap luring the SAA into range of Turkish arty batteries however with the Russians engaged again providing air cover, EW and air defences they won’t be able to achieve those precision strikes that were so effective on Friday.

“I’ve been reading that Turkish combat drones now rival the US’s in abilities, so showcasing them here on the world stage is certainly one way for Erdogan to market his produce, so wouldn’t it be nice if Putin did something to ruin that for him, like jamm them over Idlib so the SAA could shoot them down a lot easier”

I’ve been reading about this “revolution in warfare” in the MSM as well.

One piece of information I just learned this morning is that under the Sochi agreement the Turks were allowed drone flights over Syria for intelligence purposes. On Friday after the air strike that killed Turkish soldiers when the Russians stood down the Turks attacked with armed drones as well as surveillance drones.

The Turks, and the west in general are using this the same way they used the US ambush of a local militia at Dier ez-Zor. After the media got through with it the ambush of the 50 or so militia turned into the ambush of a Russian mechanized battalion leaving 500 dead.

Russia has since green lit the denial of Syrian air space to Turkish drones and the SAA as well as the Russians can now shoot them down at will and the SAA is back on the offensive. With no drones in the air Turkish arty won’t be nearly so effective.

“Elijah J Magnier is a very clever guy and I think he’s spot on with his analysis,”

Totally agree.

lilbenavidez

satire article without any humour. Turkey has not engaged militarily just used drones to destroy SAA assests for the time being than the rebels overran them simple as that

https://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing.asp

Its probatlyu true that Turkey is number two if fx Russia should take the whole country.

As I follow it, they have up to 100.000 in army, airforce and navy which are very good troops, which they more or less has logistics for. They are well armed but a lot of them are not veterans.

The rest are mainly relative low educated infantery reserves equipped as such. Meeting trooopås like that kind again and again will tax You in soldiers and equipment. They will get You exhausted.

So whatever: Turks has up to 100.000 to send, if all those “good ones” cna be replaced by the reserved.

hvaiallverden

Yeah, so, eh…. whats next, full frontal, like spearheding with what you have of heavy duty, into an region cositing of so much hideouts and smal towns, that defence isnt that big of an problem, since the cards are de facto wide open, Turds are there, and we are here, what the initial “sucsess” must have brought is by now irrelevant, it was more of an breatch of trust, than anything and some SAAs got hitt, and this showed what I can only define as been a tiny bit naive, this is premuim leauge, not some local street gang.

Then, whom learned what, the numbers of gears arent unlimited, and I hope the SAA/RuFs thinks also because of history, smal units need as much firepower as humanly possible to carrie, because the first contact will be tanks, drones, to APCs in various forms, and the rule is, once you shoot, make shure you dont miss, second chanses are an gamble, but that, depends on where you shoot from, fly/move like an butterfly and sting like an bee.
From now on, everything infront of you is the enemy, they have taken off their masks, witch for us was never on, but when the MSM lies about everything, all the time, the gap widens between reality and fiction, it merges into borderline stupdity and deprived from any kind of history, you know, wisdom, sometimes thinking before acting may be an good thing.

Well, intresting times, indeed, and even the Chines can be of help, like testing theirs, nothing beats real time and genuine field tests, do the shit work at all, and maybe( word hickups), we are aproatching an water sheed moment in war fare, convetional contra the future, where we have gone from swords to missile tech for everone, yeah, incl drones, and I would even confess that if I had an live stock, or animals in an wide open range, even enclosed, an drone would be perfect, also because the animals learns and takes notice, and what should be focused on, regarding the future in combat, is equimpent much more sutable to detect other electronic equimpents in larger areas or better scopes, etc to digitalised whatevers, a tank is easy, an drone is much worse.
Because, wars are inevietable desided on the ground, the infantery, the size dont matter that much anymore, what matters is disiplin, foreberance, expirience (above all), intell, etc, and logistics to ability to relocate within minimum of time, to any condition, much easier when you are local.

Yeah, shooting in close range at an moder tank is like going to an job intervjue, there is no second chanse to correct the importance of missing in the first encounter/first impression.
Sniping is one thing, tanks and similare, are an division up, much tougher and the rooms for errors, narrower, and depends on coop from smal units, I like smal units, because, the enemy in order to punch thru, must focus the forces, and the defence must be there, already, once the spear head is an physical reality, it can be slammed from the sides, and again, the chain of comand is what is desicive, and disiplin is what makes it happen.

peace

Stop polluting this site and go back to erdogan’s rectum until you die; no one cares about your ‘opinion’ (if you turkish monkeys even have an opinion), no one cares for your miserable existence, you are nothing – a pile of excrement from erdogans butt ?
