A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:

  • At least 4 military personnel and 2 civilians were killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul;
  • The Afghan Defense Ministry said that 100 Taliban members had surrendered to government forces in the provinces of Ghor and Herat;
  • The Taliban announced that a new batch of fighters had finished training in one of the group’s camps;
  • At least 16 civilians were killed and 6 others were wounded by actions of US-led forces in the province of Balkh during the last 20 days, the Taliban said;
  • The Taliban claimed tat 6 government troops were killed in a Taliban attack in the city of Lashkar Gah;
  • 9 government troops were killed and 7 others were wounded in the Chahar Bolak district of Balkh province, the Taliban said.
