On January 29th, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered the Chinese Army to assist in containing the novel coronavirus epidemic.
Xi said that the armed forces rapidly initiated the joint prevention and control mechanism and sent elite medical teams to combat the epidemic at the “frontline.”
Xi said the epidemic prevention and control remained grim and complex and demanded the armed forces shoulder their responsibility, fight the hard battle and actively assist local authorities in fighting the epidemic.
The armed forces are tasked with treating patients in Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan, which reflects the high level of trust that the Party and the people place in them, Xi said.
Huoshenshan is the treatment center that is actively and rapidly being constructed in Wuhan, similarly to the facility built to counter SARS back in 2002-3.
Three more people recovered from the coronavirus outside of Wuhan and the Hubei province.
Two patients were discharged from hospitals in east China’s Anhui Province and one patient from southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality.
The patients, aged 25, 30 and 44 years old, respectively, have all worked or lived in Wuhan, the center of the epidemic. They are the first patients to recover in their respective province and municipality.
In total, in Mainland China as of January 29th, there are 6,061 confirmed cases and 132 deaths resulting from the coronavirus.
There have also been at least 91 cases of the virus reported outside mainland China.
During the 2003 SARS outbreak, there were 5,327 confirmed cases of the disease in mainland China, with 349 deaths.
Thus, the mortality rate is much lower.
Wuhan’s Communist Party chief Ma Guoqiang said that testing had been streamlined in recent days, leading to a spike in diagnoses.
“This does not mean the speed of the disease spreading has increased drastically,” he added.
With intensive media coverage of the situation, the public has been aware of the urgency of curbing the outbreak, but efforts are still needed to mobilize the whole society to conduct health management in communities, Wu Hao, head of the Fangzhuang community health service center in Beijing said.
“Such comprehensive prevention and control measures are the best and most effective way to prevent the virus from further spreading and ultimately contain the outbreak,” Wu said.
On the part of the US, the White House is considering further restrictions on US airlines flying to and from China in addition to voluntary restrictions that the companies have put into place, President Donald Trump’s economic adviser Larry Kudlow said.
Kudlow also said that officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were going to China to help with the coronavirus outbreak at China’s invitation.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said that the land border with China will remain closed to car traffic until March 1st.
She said all train connections except for one train from Moscow to Beijing will be halted starting at midnight January 30th.
Golikova said authorities will make a decision on planes between Russia and China in the coming days.
She said Chinese students who left on Lunar New Year vacation will be asked not to resume their studies in Russian universities until March 1st.

You don’t know the mortality rate yet because people who are only ill can still die. And what difference does it make if it’s lower? Comparing this situation to another won’t help contain this one. The only thing you can do with this is to say that this epidemic is “not that bad”. But it’s bad and it can be even worse.

Exactly.. 106 dead : 79 recovered – that is much more realistic figure of mortality rate..
So, some people still think it’s a hoax?!
Not a hoax, but bio warfare? Hmmm maybe. Every race has genes that are unique to that race of people. So I think it is a genetically modified virus that targets the unique gene strands of asian people, in particular, Chinese. Have all the deaths outside of China ever been of non asian origin. That would be an interesting thing to look into. If there are lots of non-asian deaths outside of China then maybe my theory is wrong, but if it is only Asian people dying then maybe it might be a virus that was modified to target Asians. A US military laboratory (in Ukraine) created virus to target China? Bio warfare? Is this targeting the Chinese because China is a threat to the US hegemony? Because China’s economy is expected to surpass the US economy next year? Color me suspicious.
There’s also an opinion in conspiracy circles who hypothesize this is being used to justify implementing more globalist agendas like population control in Agenda 2030. Bill Gates and India’s PM Narendra Modi support male sterilization to reduce birthrates. Theodore Kaufman, author of “Germany Must Perish”, also supported sterilization (but only for Germans).
